A Tinted Moisturizer That Looks So Natural You'll Forget You Have it On

A second skin.

Iris&Romeo Best Skin Days

 Dacy Knight

Over the past couple of years, I've gone from wearing makeup almost every day to rarely wearing makeup at all. These days, I typically don't apply much more than moisturizer and sunscreen, sometimes a vitamin C serum beneath. And while I now embrace my bare face for day-to-day outings, I do miss the even complexion and dewy finish I get from foundation—I just can't get on board with covering up that much for daily use.

When I found out about Iris & Romeo's very first product, a tinted moisturizer that boasts SPF 25 and blocks blue light and pollution, it sounded like exactly the thing I was craving for practical, multitasking, everyday coverage.

Pros + Cons:

Pros:

  • Evens out skin tone
  • Leaves skin glowing
  • Moisturizes skin
  • Includes sunscreen

Cons:

  • Price per ounce is expensive
  • Only five shades available

The Bottom Line:

The first time I wore Best Skin Days, I completely forgot I had it on.

About My Skin

I've tried tinted moisturizers and BB creams in the past, but all of them have either melted away, offer too much coverage, or both. I've found they don't always blend well and end up becoming more apparent on the skin, either too thick or simply not the right texture for a natural finish.

The Ingredients

The formula (which was reworked 30 times until it was exactly right) boasts ingredients such as Bulgarian rose extract (at clinical levels), rosa damascena flower water, green tea, and moringa oil. The Bulgarian rose extract provides the skin with a source of omega-9, vitamin C, and anti-inflammatory properties. The rosa damascena extract improves collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis. Other notable ingredients include coconut water, sunflower seed oil, and sodium hyaluronate. This tinted moisturizer is cruelty-free, vegan, and Byrdie Clean approved.

How to Apply

I had gotten into the habit of not wearing any makeup, but the coverage was so light and airy that later in the day (when I wanted to do a little Kansa wand-and-oil face massage session), I skipped washing my face. If you're wearing any trace of makeup while using a Kansa wand, there's a chance the metals in the wand have a reaction with the formula (a normal thing to happen—hence why you're always supposed to wash off makeup before) and I ended up with black streaks all over my face. One of the takeaways is to always wash your face before using the wand, but the more exciting takeaway for me was how effortless and natural this tinted moisturizer felt and looked.

In addition to keeping skin feeling moisturized with a dewy finish (that lasts—even though you're encouraged to reapply every two hours, likely due to the SPF), the buildable formula also provides the right dose of sheer coverage to even out skin tone without masking the skin. The application process was seamless, leaving me more than satisfied with the texture of this tinted moisturizer.

The Results

My real skin, and its imperfections, still show through, but the moisturizer helps hide redness, reduce dullness, and deliver a natural-looking glow. I was worried with only five shades, whatever I chose wouldn't be a match for my skin, but the "Light Medium" shade blends into my olive skin perfectly. Once applied, it looks like a better, more moisturized, glowy version of my skin. It was the perfect amount of coverage while still keeping my skin natural looking. I like that it evened out my skin tone, providing a consistent look and color across my face.

This five-in-one formula does what it says it will; it gives the skin a natural, dewy coverage, protects against sunlight, blue light, and pollution, and hydrates the skin.

My real skin, and its imperfections, still show through, but the moisturizer helps hide redness, reduce dullness, and deliver a natural-looking glow.

The Value

While Iris & Romeo founder, Michele Gough Baril, formulated the product with women in their "middle years" in mind, I think we can all benefit from a no-nonsense multitasker that protects and nourishes the skin. For the hydrating benefits and coverage I'm looking for, this product is worth the price. Tinted moisturizers tend to range in price depending on what is being offered, the ingredients, and the benefits.

Our Verdict

For a sheer, even coverage (let's not forget it includes SPF), the Iris & Romeo Best Skin Days delivers. It's quick and easy to apply or reapply, ideal for anyone on the go. If you want skin that feels nourished and glowing all day long, I'd add this product to your cart.
