For more reasons than one, gravity is not our friend. There’s the lifelong struggle to keep everything from our eyebrows to our derrieres lifted, and then there’s the daily battle to maintain our mane’s body and volume. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we often accept defeat in that arena, but there are some alternatives to constantly using mousse, volumizing spray, and round brushing our tresses into a perfect bouncy blowout. And they all take 10 seconds or less.
Scroll through for three tricks to give you instant volume!
Switch your part to bump up the volume and add lift right at the roots. If you’re loyal to one side to the point that parting your hair on the opposite side just looks off to you, opt for a center part. The trick still works!
If your ponytail needs a boost, add a clip. Split your pony horizontally, take a mini claw clip, and clip it under the top third of your ponytail. No one will see the clip, but they will see a nice, full ponytail. It functions similarly to the Bump-It, but in a much more subtle fashion.
When all else falls flat, dry shampoo will never let you down. Flip your head over, spray dry shampoo at the roots, muss it up, and you’re good to go. Check the ingredients list to ensure you’re spritzing a dry shampoo that’s ideal for adding body. Alcohol should be high on the list, before starch (which is great for absorbing oil, but not as stellar in the volumizing department). Stash a travel-sized version, like Drybar’s Triple Sec 3-in-1 ($12), in your purse for midday emergencies.
