After an inspiring evening of networking and listening to Dr. Mona Gohara (pro dermatologist) speak, we were curious what simple adjustments we could take to improve our skin for summer. Fortunately, Dr. Gohara was kind enough to share her expert advice.

“Don’t change what you do; just lighten things up. Lighter clothes means lighter products,” explains Gohara. Swap your heavy cream moisturizers for a lighter lotion or serum.
This is a no-brainer but somehow easily forgotten. “The sun and those margaritas can dry you out,” explains Gohara. “It’s also important that you get enough sleep.” Not enough of either can wreak havoc on your skin.
If you have to choose just three products for your skincare repertoire, make it these. Try an antioxidant serum (Gohara loves vitamin C) in the morning to protect against free radicals. “Serums are light, highly concentrated, and easy to layer,” she says. Always apply SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from the sun, and use a hydrating cleanser to wipe all the grime away at the end of the day.
The one step everyone should be doing, regardless of the season? “Hydrating the skin,” explains Gohara. “This keeps the skin barrier intact, thereby keeping the skin healthy, radiant, and less irritated.”
