This is Chriselle Lim of The Chriselle Factor, and I’m back with some of my skincare secrets. Have you ever had one of those mornings where you’re just not having a good skin day? A surprise pimple or dry patch that was definitely not there when you went to sleep the night before? I think we’ve all been there. That’s why I’m so excited to share with you my three quick fixes for a bad skin day.
This may sound a bit cliché, but the first step to getting over a bad skin day is to treat it from within. It may be overlooked, albeit a little obvious, but drinking water throughout the day really helps hydrate your skin. I personally don’t like drinking water, but I know how important it is to have the recommended eight eight-ounce glasses of water. Whether I’m having a bad skin day or have a big shoot coming up, my trick is to get a gallon of water and force myself to drink as much as I possibly can within 24 hours.
If water isn’t enough, I’ll drink some detox tea. I swear by this Draining Organic Herbal Tea by Caudalie and especially love it when I’m traveling. It drains all the toxins in your body and keeps you from getting bloated!
#2: Face Mask
I love face masks in every way, shape, and form. From the sheet masks I use in my Korean skincare routine to the clay masks I included in my recent five masks you need for fall post, I can’t get enough of them!
If I have enough time in the morning, I’ll put on this Detox Face Mask from Malin + Goetz. It purifies, clarifies, balances, and soothes (which is exactly what I want when I’m having a bad skin day).
As you can tell from the pictures, this mask goes on like a clay and transforms into a foam. I leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water to find bright and radiant skin! This mask has easily made its way into my top favorite masks.
#3: Blemish Pads
I usually get really oily and will have a breakout right before it’s that time of the month. So a week or so before I start, I reach for my First Aid Beauty Blemish Patrol Pads. Made with witch hazel and salicylic acid, these gentle acne treatment pads were designed to tighten pores and help prevent future breakouts. They also contain willow bark extract, which really helps soothe any type of inflammation. I swipe the little pads all over my face before I start my usual skincare regimen.
