7 Halloween Outfits for People Who Refuse to Buy a Costume

Because what's the point in buying something if you won't wear it again?

For Halloween in 2018, I wore a black turtleneck dress, a gold chain belt, and a pair of black tights inspired by one of my favorite Fran Drescher looks from The Nanny. I was accused by those closest to me of wearing my "regular clothes" and simply ascribing Fran Fine's name to it. They were not wrong.

Some people love to dress up for Halloween and will shell out hundreds of dollars to build the perfect, for-one-night-only costume. I am not one of those people, and, if you're reading this, chances are you aren't either. This isn't to say we can't be festive, though. In fact, it is very much possible to create Halloween-appropriate looks out of an everyday wardrobe. Below, seven Halloween outfits that you can keep wearing on November 1.

Spiderwoman

This one's for my goths out there. Yung Reaper creates the ultimate party wear, including this latex mini dress featuring a rhinestone spider on the chest.

Kylie Jenner-Adjacent

Since orange is one of the classic Halloween hues, this cutout dress by poster girl is automatically on-theme. If someone challenges you, just say you're channeling Kylie Jenner. Throw on one of Studs' Halloween huggies for some extra spook.

Miaou's money-print Billie Dress ($245) is so good you'll want to wear it for your holiday card. Pair it with a bedazzled dollar roll clutch and some sparkly heels for some added wealth.

I'm a Cat, Duh

There is nothing wrong with wearing a slinky dress then throwing on a pair of ears for Halloween. If Karen Smith can be a mouse wearing a negligee, then you can be a cat wearing feather-trimmed gloves.

Y2K Princess

The early 2000s are back, so it's time to put those Juicy Couture sweatpants to good use. Add a cropped white tank and Mayol's Super S Ring ($75.21) and be transported back to the early aughts.

Mistress of the Dark

Channel the ultimate horror hostess, Elvira, in a long black dress and some rhinestone snake earrings. Add some studded fishnet gloves for even more glitz.

Off-Duty Princess Diana

Perhaps you've been inspired by Princess Diana's casual wear recently. Wearing Diana's beloved Sheep Sweater ($295) with a pair of chunky white sneakers will make you the most comfortable person at the party.
