For many, Memorial Day Weekend signals that summer is just around the corner. When we think about summer beauty goals, we can’t help but picture Victoria's Secret bombshells with sea-salt waves and a healthy bronzed, beachy glow. So when we caught up with the newest face of Victoria’s Secret Pink at the Pink Nation Motel pool party in Palm Springs last weekend, we had more than a few questions about summer beauty. In addition to common hot-weather beauty woes—like a foundation that won’t melt as the temperature rises or a hydrating lipstick that won’t leave your pout as dry as the Sahara—a summer beauty struggle that's always top of mind is finding a cheek color that will stay put and deliver pigment regardless of the weather.

Sitting down with Grace Elizabeth, a fashion industry newcomer who’s already walked every major runway show, scored two Vogue covers, and fronts VS Pink, we asked what beauty tricks she’s learned backstage since breaking into the modeling industry. “You pick up quite a few tricks, and you think, are they practical in real life?” she explained. But one beauty trick she swears by is a blush hack we’re all ears for. “It’s hard to find the perfect cheek color,” Elizabeth says. “I have a natural pink—especially if I get nervous or something like that. So I like to find the lipstick shades and use those—just melt those on my hand and use that as a blush."

Knowing your ideal lipstick tone takes the guesswork out of determining which powdered blush will work when brushed over your cheeks. Furthermore, the inherent creaminess and density of lipstick versus powder blush will give your makeshift cheek color added pigment and staying power. Elizabeth says she even uses the method on her eyes for an on-trend "pink or shimmery look."
