Golden Globes: The Best Beauty Looks of the 77th Annual Awards Show

If you weren't yet convinced that Netflix will one day run the world, here's an interesting statistic: the streaming service drew more Golden Globe nominations than any other motion picture distributor. For the Best Motion Picture category alone, Netflix distributed three of the five films—quite the evolution for a company that initially only shipped DVDs to your home in red envelopes. With films birthed from streaming services to big studios, there were some surprising nods (and, of course, snubs) for this year's show, and we're excited to see who takes home the (newly designed) statuettes. But before we find out who leads in their category, we are of course reserving time in our schedules to gawk at the gorgeous beauty looks that will grace the red carpet. We're already bracing ourselves for Lucy Boynton's beautifully offbeat makeup by the talented Jo Baker and Margot Robbie's always perfectly coiffed hair by Bryce Scarlett, and we will be sharing all of our favorite looks with you throughout the night, below.

Kerry Washington

Hairstylist Takisha Sturdivant-Drew wanted to keep Washington's hair understated and let her opened blazer and knotted body chain take the stage, front and center. Her secret weapon was Paul Mitchell's Lavender Mint Conditioning Leave-In Spray to keep the hair hydrated all evening long.

Tika Sumpter

This '60's-inspired look by Tika Sumpter is perfect for the red carpet. Thick winged liner and a matte beige on the lid are accented by a peachy nude lip and sculpted brows.

Margot Robbie

Hairstylist Bryce Scarlett aimed to give Robbie "slept-in, textured soft waves" as a laidback contrast to her bold and modern Chanel gown. To create the look, he made several large braids in the actress' blowdried hair and tapped a flat iron along them to create S-waves. After releasing the braids, he brushed out the hair, loosened any spots along the face that were too wavy with the flat iron, then spritzed Morocannoil Dry Texture Spray throughout the hair before finishing with Moroccanoil Mending Infusion on the ends and Luminous Hairpsray in Medium Hold to keep everything in place.

Winnie Harlow

Winnie Harlow's smoldering smoky eye is dramatically intensified with electric blue liner traced along the waterline, a splash of metallic glitter on the lids, and Eylure false lashes.

Priyanka Chopra

Makeup artist Mary Phillips used a whopping four products to create Chopra's diffused crimson lip: Permagel Ultra Lip Pencil in Major Red to define the lips, followed by MatteTrance Lipstick in Vendetta, Obsessed, and Elson 2 to create a "lush ombré effect."

The Game's Gabrielle Dennis stuns in a sultry nude look. The super glossy lip is perfect complement to her golden-colored gown.

The theme for Dunst's look was "red carpet but not overdone," so makeup artist Mary Wiles focused on a blotted red lip using Dior Rouge Dior Ultra Care Liquid Lipstick in 999 Bloom.

No one wears a red lip quite like Zoë. The matte, blurred look, a combination of YSL Beauty Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain in N.8 Black Red Code and N.12 Red Tribe, is the perfect accouterment to her quirky polka dot gown.

Hairstylist Renato Campora created soft, Old Hollywood waves on Watts by first prepping damp hair with Biolage Styling All-In-One Coconut Infusion Multi-Benefit Spray and Biolage Styling Whipped Volume Mousse and later heat styling with a blowdryer and 1-inch curling iron.

Feldstein once walked the Golden Globes red carpet with brother Jonah Hill, but this year she's walking it as a first-time nominee for her role as Molly in Booksmart. To mark the occasion, she's chosen a monochromatic steel blue look which is made even sharper with a dramatic, exaggerated cat eye.

Makeup artist Mali Magic created a soft, shimmery look on Haddish using not one but two Pat Mcgrath palettes: Mothership VI: Midnight Sun (Vermillion Venom in the crease and outer edges for depth, Skinshow Moon Glow on the lid) and Mothership V: Bronze Seduction, pressing Rose Gold 005 on the center of the lid to highlight.

Mirren's cranberry lip (which perfectly matches her dress) is the result of two drugstore products: L'Oréal Age Perfect Anti-Feathering Lip Liner in Rich Cranberry and Luminous Hydrating Lipstick + Nourishing Serum in Perfect Burgundy.

Hayek's dreamy eyes were the result of a mix of red, bronze, and chocolate tones from Charlotte Tilbury's new Pillow Talk Instant Eye Palette and four eyeliners: Rock n' Kohl in Pillow Talk, Barbarella Brown, and Bedroom Black as well as the Classic Eye Powder Pencil in Sophia.

Nicole Kidman

Makeup artist Kate Synnott said that although Kidman's dress evokes Old Hollywood glamor, she wanted to keep her hair and makeup fresh and modern. One such way of doing that was by applying several fluttery lashes from luxe brand Lashify. On the top lashline, she applied Gossamer Lashes in A12 in medium length and three B14 lashes at the outer corners of the lashes for fullness and volume.

Scarlett Johansson

Hairstylist Jenny Cho's goal for Johansson's hair was for it to look "as fresh as clear water." To create the hydrated look, she used Hair Rituel by Sisley Precious Hair Care Oil before blowdrying and pulling the hair into a low ponytail and later ran it through the finished ponytail before twisting into a low knot and securing with pins. As an extra measure to keep everything perfectly smooth, Cho also used ghd's Oval Dressing Brush to keep every strand in place.

Cynthia Erivo

Two-time Golden Globe winner Cynthia Erivo's cropped chrome pixie is the perfect icy pairing with her Bulgari necklace (which costs a casual cool $3 million). Because Erivo's new shiny color called for a double process, stylist Coree Moreno used new hydrating Dove products (out this February) post-shampoo: Amplified Textures Moisture Spa Recovery Mask rinsed out and followed by Amplified Textures Moisture Lock Leave-in Conditioner.

For her complexion, Terrell Mullin used a mix of Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 11.5 and Fluid Sheer in 11, as well as a touch of Neo Nude A-Line Blush in 51 on her cheeks. Her smoky eye look was a blend of Eye Tint Liquid Eye Shadow (10 on the lids and 23 in the creases). Finally, in a move to add a touch of modernity to her otherwise retro look, Mullin applied a soft brick red on her lips, Lip Maestro Liquid Lipstick in 415.

Rachel Brosnahan

Who said dry shampoo could only be used in the days following washing your hair as a preventative measure? Hairstylist Ashley Streicher applied Goldwell Kerasilk Color Dry Shampoo onto Brosnahan's bangs as the final step of her style to keep them from becoming greasy and separating throughout the night. Genius!

Now three-time Golden Globe winner Olivia Colman stunned in simple rosy makeup and a feathery pixie. To create a glowing base for her glam, makeup artist Sarah Uslan prepped her skin with Emma Hardie and Pause Well-Aging’s Fascia Stimulating Tool.

Cate Blanchett

Hairstylist Robert Vetica created a voluminous, "ethereal, unkempt" knotted updo by backcombing the roots with Olivia Garden Style-Up Brush and spritzing Leonor Greyl Voluforme Styling Spray ($36) to get serious lift before shaping the hair and pinning back.

Awkwafina

Newly minted Golden Globe winner Awkwafina wore the trending lip color of the evening, cherry red, which was paired with a pretty wavy updo with face-framing pieces left out and parted to the side.

Shailene Woodley

Makeup artist Alex Babsky wanted to evoke late '70s glamor by crafting a diffused graphic eye look. Using Lâncome Le Crayon Khôl Eyeliner in Black Ebony, Babsky sketched out the rough eyeliner shape before blending out along the lid with a brush. This created an eyeshadow base into which he pressed Lancôme Hypnôse 5 Color Eyeshadow Palette in Smoky Chic, blending outwards towards the temple for a cat-meets-smoky eye.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Fleabag Golden Globe winner (!) Waller-Bridge's skin and makeup was done completely with Burt's Bees products. Most notably, her rosy lip was created using Satin Lipstick in Sunset Cruise as a base and Lip Shimmer in Watermelon over the top for added moisture and shimmer. For easy touchups throughout the night, makeup artist Nikki DeRoest instructed the actress to use the lip shimmer as it's practically foolproof.
