Glow Recipe has been one of the top authorities on Korean beauty for years. The site, which was founded by Sarah Lee and Christine Chang, is famous for curating the best K-beauty products in one place, allowing U.S. consumers to shop these international products easily and assuredly. Since its genesis, Glow Recipe has grown to become its own skincare brand. Lee and Chang has launched multiple skincare products under the Glow Recipe name, including (but not limited to) the now iconic Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ($45), the wildly popular Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer ($39), and most recently, the Pineapple-C Brightening Serum ($49).
Yesterday, Lee and Chang took to Instagram to announce some major changes to the Glow Recipe site. They announced that they will no longer curate K-beauty products. Instead, they've decided to focus on growing their own namesake beauty brand on its own. At first, this news made us feel melancholy, because it's kind of like we're coming to the end of a skincare era. Then we took notice of the closing sale, and we felt a little bit better. You see, Lee and Chang are clearing out their current collection of K-beauty products, which means we get serums, moisturizers, ampoules, and sheet masks up to 60% off. Keep scrolling to see the 12 Korean skincare products to shop before the sale ends.
Let's start with one of the most popular products K-beauty products on Glow Recipe. It's an ampoule, which is essentially a super-concentrated serum. This ampoule is formulated with over 95% centella asiatica extract. Centella asiatica is an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial plant known for its healing powers. Because it's formulated with such a high concentration of the herb, this ampoule is a must for anyone with dry irritated skin. It calms redness and sensitivity, while also hydrating with hyaluronic acid.
You might recognize this black bottle from other retailers (it's currently sold at Sephora as well). It's a serum and mask in one, and it's meant to be worn overnight to boost hydration, radiance, and skin health. The watery-gel texture absorbs comfortably into the skin, providing it with 7 antioxidant-rich extracts (including blackberry, propolis, and black cumin) to boost radiance literally overnight. BTW: the brand's Red Jelly Pack ($34) is also on sale. That one uses red algae to provide immense anti-aging effects.
Blithe's Pressed Serums combine serum and moisturizer into one product. It's formulated with iceplant extract, which is an effective anti-pollution ingredient that soothes, hydrates, and protects the skin. We think this is a great addition to a summer skincare routine, since the iceplant extract provides a slight cooling effect on warm, sun-kissed skin.
These alcohol-free exfoliating pads are infused with charcoal and chai tea. Swipe them gently over the skin to buff away dead skin and pore-clogging impurities. The charcoal aids in the detoxification of the skin, while the chai tea provides it with free radical-fighting antioxidants.
If you have dry, sensitive skin, this moisturizer might be your new game-changing K-beauty buy. It's on the thicker side, so it's might not work for super oily or acneic skin, but it will soothe and moisturize dryness and irritation. It's full of good-for-skin extracts, including broccoli, fig, onion, sunflower, willow bark, grapefruit, bergamot, rose flower, soybean ferment, and even more.
Oh, how we love a good vitamin c serum. This one is formulated with 13% ascorbic acid. It brightens the complexion, evens out skin tone, and provides anti-aging benefits (vitamin c is a potent antioxidant). Along with ascorbic acid, it's also formulated with epidermal growth factors (or EGF), which speeds up blemish healing, and succulent extract, which is chock full of vitamins. In other words, this serum does a little bit of everything.
If you're prone to breakouts, add this cleanser to your cart. It's formulated with 30% tea tree extract, which is an effective anti-inflammatory ingredient that calms and prevents breakouts. There's also centella asiatica (that healing ingredient we talked about before) and willow bark extract, which is a natural exfoliating ingredient. It's an all-around breakout-busting product. Oh, and the Grow Tea Tree 70 Spot Treatment ($11), which belongs to the same line of products, is good, too.
Make P:rem is one of our favorite Korean skincare brands, thanks to its lineup of effective products, like this Micro Tension Cream. It's a superbly hydrating face cream that plumps the skin from within with ceramides and botanical oils, making it look bouncy, glowy, and elastic—like a baby skin.
In true K-beauty fashion, this isn't just a toner—it's a toner and essence combined into one. Aloe vera extract, chrysanthemum extract, oat kernel, dandelion and argan oil hydrate, clarify, and soothe the skin with a watery, cushiony texture.
We like the superbly hydrating effect that that essence gives to our skin. We also like all of the botanical ingredients that smooth, nourish, and treat our problem areas. Finally, we have to point out the light citrus smell that makes us feel clean, refreshed, and energized as soon as we smell it.
Three sheet masks for $7 is quite a deal. In this sheet mask flight, there's one moisturizing mask, one brightening mask, and one repairing mask. Each one is soaked in an effective, hydrating serum that's made with 100% Korean oak tree sap—an ingredient that's full of vitamins and minerals.
Aside from topical skin products, we think this Glow Recipe sale is the perfect time to snag a smart skin device. This one, from Wayskin, measures your skin's moisture levels, environmental humidity and UV index, and more. Then, it reports data back to your smartphone. It's a futuristic way to understand your skin and tweak your skincare routine to make it the most effective that it can possibly be.
