I’m vegan and a chocolate lover, two things that aren’t always synonymous with each other. I’m also obsessed with glowing skin (really, who isn’t?), so when the opportunity presented itself to eat vegan chocolate every day to achieve the optimal glow of course I jumped on it. Let me explain: Sourse’s Glow Bites ($34) are the first-ever vegan dark chocolate collagen supplement. The company boasts that it’s clinically proven eating just two of these candy-coated treats a day—think, giant M&Ms that are actually good for you—will improve skin texture, moisture, and elasticity in just two weeks. Glow Bites are infused with 100% clean ingredients including Ceramosides, a plant-based, gluten-free collagen alternative derived from wheat. This ingredient especially caught my attention, since collagen’s been having a moment, as far as trendy superfoods go, and is sourced from animals meaning it’s not vegan friendly. Being able to participate in the collagen craze with this alternative made me appreciative.

Glow Bites have all the rich, decadent flavor of your favorite classic, non-vegan chocolates. There was no supplement after taste either. That being said, my only qualms about this product is that it was hard to limit myself to just two a day. There were certainly some stressful days where I munched on a few more (extra calories? yes. extra glow? I can only hope.) Some days I popped my Glow Bites first thing in the morning, because I figured if I’m getting my nutrients from this chocolate, then why can’t I have it with breakfast. Other days, it was an after-dinner treat, without indulging too much. Any day, any time these were yummy and after two weeks I looked in the mirror for my results.
My skin had a small menstrual-related flare-up on my chin—yes, even my potent chocolate couldn’t stop mother nature but it was handy for cravings. Other than that, I did have soft, supple skin that was probably a combination of Glow Bites and the facial oils I use daily. The real proof for me was when my friend commented on my “vibrant” winter skin on Day 13 since at this point in the year my summer tan has faded and I begin to look washed out. One pack has 60 bites which were more than the two-a-day dosage prescribed for my two-week trial, thankfully.
