Glossier's Newest Product Is an Exfoliating Acne Solution, and It Launched Today

Updated 01/17/18

We recently heard the news that Glossier, one of our favorite millennial-minded beauty brands, was planning a new product launch after a rather cryptic reveal by a Glossier employee. We knew that it would be an acne treatment—and a buzzy one at that—but other details were kept well under wraps.

Until today that is. This morning, Glossier unveiled the new product on its website. It's a liquid exfoliator that smoothes texture, evens tone, and minimizes pores while treating existing acne and preventing future blemishes from cropping up. If it sounds like a miracle worker, you're not alone. After all, the brand literally named it the "Solution" since it's formulated to tackle so many skin concerns at once. It's already garnered a lot of attention from beauty devotees on social media.

Glossier Solution $24

The new skincare product is adorned with the brand's trademark Millennial Pink packaging, which means it will fit right in with the rest of your Glossier collection. Even though the brand has a wealth of skincare products that includes a cleanser, a moisturizer, masks, serums, and more, this is the first skincare product that the brand has released in a while. The last few launches have been makeup and fragrance, with the debut of the Wowder Loose Translucent Powder ($22) and the Glossier You Fragrance ($60) shortly thereafter.

It works through chemical exfoliation, not physical (the former uses safe-for-skin acids to break through debris on a molecular level, while the latter requires manual scrubbing with a grainy or rough-textured product). It contains a blend of three different acids for maximum potency and efficacy, including lactic, glycolic, and salicylic acids. Lactic acid reduces acne and dark spots, while glycolic acid improves tone and texture and salicylic acid unclogs pores. Finally, the last star ingredient is aloe, which helps keep skin calm and smooth, despite the heavy-duty exfoliation that's happening.

Glossier posted this before and after photo to Instagram, showing one user's skin transformation after 4 weeks of use. As you can see her skin looks brighter, more even, and less red. It even appears that the texture is dramatically smoother post-use compared to pre-use.

To use, simply take a cotton pad and press down on the pump. Then apply it to your skin in sweeping motions. Follow up with moisturizer and sunscreen and you'll be on your way. Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes is certainly a fan. She took to her Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of the product, captioning it "some of my fav things." She's known for maintaining a fresh and super dewy complexion, so if she's a fan, we're confident it's an effective product.
