Today, Glossier's all-star collection—which already includes favorites like Mega Greens Galaxy Pack ($22), Balm Dotcom ($12), and Boy Brow ($16)—gains another quirkily named member. Emily Weiss et al. have announced the launch of Milky Jelly ($18), a conditioning facial cleanser that's tough on grime but gentle on sensitive skin.
With soothing ingredients like rose water, provitamin B5, and comfrey root extract, Milky Jelly is kind of a cross between micellar water and a gel cleanser. It can be used sans water as a gentle makeup remover, but also as a traditional face wash—we tried it with warm water and our Foreo Luna ($169) and were able to thoroughly rinse the day away without any kind of raw or tight feeling on our finicky complexions.
The secret is poloxamer, an effective but mild cleansing ingredient found in contact solution (but it's obviously totally fine for skin, as well). And while dryness is a common side effect to face washing, this formula uses aquaxyl, a compound that helps skin better trap and contain moisture. Milky Jelly replaces the brand's Soothing Face Mist ($18) as part of its Phase 1 Kit ($80), which features three other skincare essentials.
