While we know what's trending here in the UK when it comes to beauty (pink draped blusher and intricate liner), and in keeping with the theme of Byrd's Eye View, we thought we'd take a look at the beauty trends taking over other parts of the world. To help us delve a little deeper, we called on the team at Pinterest to let us know which trends are growing the fastest year over year in some of our favourite places. From the eye shadow colour that French women love to the hair trend taking over Mexico, keep scrolling for summer inspiration from further afield.
Trending in France: Brown Eye Shadow
Increase in saves over the past year: 85%
Brown eye shadow is big news in France. We know French women aren't big on transient trends, and brown eye shadow is a trend with substance. It's classic, suits everyone and can be dressed up for day or night.
Trending in the U.S.: Braids
Increase in saves over the past year: 445%
That's a huge increase! If you have trouble getting your hair to hold a braid, then mist it with some texture spray to increase the grit and hold.
Trending in Australia: Natural Makeup
Increase in saves over the past year: 55%
Okay, this shouldn't be that surprising since Australia is known for being way ahead of the curve when it comes to natural beauty. Try RMS Beauty for natural cheek and lip tints and a highlighter that has Meghan Markle's seal of approval.
Trending in Japan: Pressed Flower Nail Art
Increase in saves over the past year: 105%
Preen showed pressed flower nail art (pictured) at its A/W17 show, and now it's taking off in Japan. It's seriously pretty and actually quite chic. You can do it at home by simply placing a pressed flower (nail-safe ones, of course) onto your base coat once it's tacky and then applying your top coat to seal it in.
Trending in Mexico: Balayage for Brunettes
Increase in saves over the past year: 235%
Balayage for brunettes is taking off in Mexico. Some subtle highlights woven through darker can look great in the summer months when we're naturally more sun-kissed. I'd always suggest going to a hairdresser to get your balayage done, but if you want to DIY, L'Oréal Paris has an at-home kit that does the job.
Trending in Sweden: Pink Hair
Increase in saves over the past year: 120%
Over in Sweden, pink hair is having a moment. We love Bleach London's Super Cool Colour for low-commitment hair changes.
Trending in South Africa: French Manicures
Increase in saves over the past year: 555%
There's something cool about French manicures in a '90s revival way. Tempted? Get the look with this Sally Hanson kit. A steady hand or some tip guides are a must.
Trending in Canada: Blonde Highlights
Increase in saves over the past year: 345%
You might think blonde highlights are a recurring summer trend, but in Canada this year, they are booming. As with balayage, it's always worth heading to a hairdresser, but if you do want to try it at home, then try this kit by Jerome Russell.
