Trend Alert: Glitter Face Masks Are Popping Up Everywhere

Updated 04/25/19

We have a standing weekly appointment with our favorite face masks on Sundays. There's no better way to prepare for the upcoming workweek than by treating your skin and your mind to a mask (seriously, they're just as soothing to you as they are to your skin). Pair that with a book or magazine, and a glass of pinot, and we’re happy; it’s a weekly ritual that’s kind of become our thing.

But just because face masks are relaxing doesn't mean they have to be boring. That's why Too Faced and GlamGlow are developing glitter face masks. That's right—these masks are chock-full of good-for-skin ingredients, but they have an extra element of fun thanks to an infusion of sparkle. What's not to love about treating your skin and taking selfies with an IRL version of a Snapchat filter at the same time? Keep scrolling to see the first photos of these highly anticipated masks.

First, let's look at Too Faced's glitter mask. Earlier this week, the brand's founder Jerrod Blandino took to Instagram to share a sneak peek with his dedicated fan base. In a video, you see a woman applying a super-glittery Studio 54–reminiscent product to her bare skin. Blandino captioned the video, "I'm working on something beyond Magical to make your skin Glow!" (followed by #WeLiveInGlitter, #GlitterMakesYouPretty, and #YouveNeverSeenAnythingLikeThis). The mask looks almost too pretty when exposed to light.

Plus, the glitter seems to be extremely finely milled, meaning it's not likely to irritate or prove too harsh for skin (not too shabby for a cosmetic brand's first foray into skincare, right?).

Next, we have this epic mask from the people who brought us one of our all-time favorites, like the GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment, $69. As you can see, bold silver and gold glitter is dispersed through a black base (um, we want our faces to resemble a starry sky!). The formula has the same technology as the brand's GravityMud Treatment ($69), which is designed to firm and tighten the skin.

We're not sure of the exact date of the drop, though it will launch for holiday season 2017. We honestly can't wait. Just look at the close-up of that glitter! Anyone else think this will be the perfect mask to bring to a girls' night in?
