The celebrity-loved skincare brand has made getting a Hollywood-level glow more accessible for those who don’t have an esthetician on speed-dial before a night out. I’ve been a longtime fan of Glamglow, but I had yet to try out the brand’s famous, best-selling mask, the Glamglow Youthmud Glow Stimulating Treatment, until now.
Wondering what makes this mask so special? Well, first, it was made specially for Keanu Reeves after he approached the brand's founders in search of a mask that will get him camera-ready in under 10 minutes. Learn more about it—including my experience with it—ahead.

About My Skin: Dull and prone to dryness
My biggest concern when it comes to skincare is dryness and dullness. The amount of acne serums and topical creams I have used over the years has left my skin parched, and now I’m focused on getting a glowy, glazed face à la Hailey Bieber. Sensitivity wise, there is no telling how my skin will react to a product. Some days it can handle harsher, more intense treatments, but overall I tend to stick to sensitive-skin friendly products.
The Feel: Tingly and tightening
From the moment I dipped into my jar of Youthmud, my fingers were met with a grainy, rough feeling, which comes from the volcanic pumice rock ingredient in the formula. After spreading the product evenly all over my face, the mask instantly started to tingle, which—according to the packaging—is normal. The tingling sensation subsidized after about five minutes and then the mask completely hardened and tightened. I then washed the mask off, scrubbing in circular motions, and this is when I felt the exfoliating properties of the mask come to life. The mask felt just as any other intense exfoliating treatment would.
How to Apply: Start with a clean base
To apply this mask, start with clean, dry skin and apply a thin layer of product. Personally, I found myself having to use a good amount of product to cover my entire face. Then, wait 10 minutes for the mask to harden. After the 10 minutes is up, you’ll want to use water and rub in circular motions to activate the exfoliating properties of the mask. This is when things can get a bit messy. The mask gets flaky when it hardens, but I found that the easiest way to remove it is to gently run your hands over the dry mask to remove the top layer of flakes. Then, use a soft cloth in circular motions with water to remove the remainder of the mask.
The Ingredients: Exfoliating and refreshing
Below, you'll find information on the key ingredients of this mask.
- Teaoxi Green Tea Leaf: This patented technology from Glamglow infuses the formula with antioxidants from whole green tea leaves.
- Natural Clay Blend: The clay blend in this formula works to absorb impurities and excess oils.
- Volcanic rock: This ingredient lifts away dead skin buildup while smoothing uneven texture on skin and softening the appearance of fine lines.
The Results: Glowy, smooth skin
After testing out the face mask, I soon realized that the Glamglow team certainly delivered on Reeves' request. In just ten minutes, my skin turned from lackluster and dull to a glowy dream. I’m only 23 but the mask somehow made my skin look… even younger?I was astounded to say the least. Personally, I didn’t experience any discomfort or burning from the intense treatment, but the packaging does warn that those with sensitive skin should avoid using this mask. I did a patch test before using it on my skin because I have had a history with intense masks burning my skin, but this one didn’t affect me. If you have borderline sensitive skin, I definitely recommend doing this before applying to your whole face.
Overall, I think that this is the perfect mask to use when you’re looking for a quick-fix for dull skin, and I can already tell that this mask will be a part of my getting ready routine for an event or a night out.
The Value: A worthy splurge
Glamglow’s masks are known to be pricey, so it was no surprise to me that this 1.7oz of product is priced at $60. That being said, I think that the price adds to the luxe appeal of this mask, but I don’t think that it’s aggregise compared to other exfoliating face masks. The quality of the ingredients paired with the patented Glamglow technology helps to justify the price but I would definitely only use the mask for special occasions. I don’t think it’s a reasonable price for a weekly face mask, but it’s worth keeping on hand for use every once and a while if you’re a face mask enthusiast.

Tula Exfoliating Treatment Mask: This exfoliating mask from Tula ($48) stacks up nicely to Glamglow’s Youthmud mask. It’s made with kaolin clay and volcanic sand along with turmeric root and rice extract. Pricewise, it’s a bit less than Glamglow’s mask, but not by much.
Cocokind Sea Kale Clay Face Mask: For a wallet-friendly, less intense version of Youthmud, Cocokind’s Sea Kale Clay Face Mask ($19) fits the bill. The mask helps with breakouts and smooths skin.
Glamglow’s Youthmud face mask is a luxe treatment that will have you feeling red-carpet ready in under 10 minutes. Those with sensitive skin types should avoid this product, but if your skin can handle more intense treatments this is one mask you’ll definitely want to have on hand.
