Influencer and creator of her own namesake dance-based fitness method, Danielle Peazer gets invited to so many events and at each and people she always manages to look so effortlessly cool and beautiful (just scroll her Instagram feed @daniellepeazer and you’ll see what I mean). So when I heard she was off to Shanghai with Dior and I was told I couldn’t get into her suitcase, I organized the next best thing, for a photographer to capture her getting ready for a night out in the city. Peazer tends to do her own makeup, so be prepared to pick up some tips on how to pull together a glitzy beauty look that you can totally do yourself.

So what was the event in aid of?

It was to celebrate the launch of Capture Youth by Dior ($95), a new range of products designed to delay the signs of aging by targeting several different issues that we most commonly want to tackle.

What look were you going for?

I knew I wanted that classic red lip look, as that is very Dior. I also wanted a precise liner but very little under the eyes to keep it looking fresh. I decided to wear my hair off my face, my dress was strapless, and I wanted to show off my shoulders and décolletage in the most delicate way.

When you’re getting ready for an event, do you tackle hair or makeup first?

I tend to do my makeup first, as I use a headband to keep my hair off my face, so it’s better if I haven’t already styled my hair.

To create this look, Peazer used the following.

On the face: Guerlain Blurring Active Primer ($45); Clinique Even Better Glow Foundation ($29); Diorblush Light and Contour Sculpting Stick Duo (Discontinued); Nip & Fab Face Highlight Palette ($15); Diorskin Nude Air Loose Powder ($58).

On the eyes: Benefit Ka Brow ($24); Dior All-in-Brow 3D (Discontinued); Dior Addict It Line Liquid Liner (Discontinued); Diorshow Pump ’n’ Volume Mascara ($30);

On the lips: Dior Rouge Matte Lipstick in 999 ($37).

When going to events, do you like to try different looks or do you have your go-to's?

I wish I was a little more adventurous when doing makeup for events, but I don’t want to try something new and then it not work and I have to start again. I have a choice of two to three go-to looks that I will choose from.

Where do you look to for beauty inspiration?

Social media is the best place to look for inspiration, I think. Also, red carpet looks, as these days most people on the red carpet go for that very natural skin, glowy, “less is more” look that I love.

Who are your beauty icons?

This is a tough one. I love Marilyn Monroe and how she just had an overwhelming amount of effortless glamour, but I also love Audrey Hepburn and the innocence of her beauty. In terms of more modern-day, I would count people such as Cindy Crawford and Elle Macpherson as beauty icons.

Do you have any makeup tips and tricks you swear by?

I’m not sure if it’s a top-secret tip or trick, but a makeup artist once told me to apply mascara to the bottom lashes before the top. Most of us tilt our head back when applying to the bottom lashes, which makes our top lashes touch our eyelid, and if we have mascara on them, then it will transfer and ruin our eye makeup.

I was also told to apply Eight Hour Cream ($24) to cheekbones instead of highlighter to give a more natural sheen to the skin.

Do you tend to use brushes when applying your base or do you use a sponge or fingers?

I use a sponge for foundation, as I find I get the most even coverage, but everything else I use a brush for, except for lip balm, but I think everyone uses their fingers for that.
