For the budget-conscious, Forever 21 is a goldmine of clothing de rigueur. Psst: It also happens to have a pretty decent beauty section. The famous American fast-fashion brand has definitely been crossing over into cosmetics with its wide selection ranging from basic makeup sponges to Insta-favorite brands like NYX and e.l.f. Cosmetics.
The offerings are very tempting, and the price is right. I went ahead and tested some of the best sellers because they're so affordable, there's no reason not to. Keep scrolling for my honest reviews of five of Forever 21's best-selling beauty products.
Makeup brushes are damn expensive, and for $9, getting a set of five made me skeptical of their quality. Surprise No. 1 came when I felt them—so soft. Like, really soft. I was also taken aback when I applied bronzer, blush, and eyeliner using a few of these. They work just as well as my fancy brushes, and I can't get over how soft they are for the price. Even if you end up only using a couple of the brushes, I'd say you got your money's worth.
I happily shelled out $34 for my Surratt Beauty Relevée Lash Curler a while back, and it has remained one of the makeup-bag staples that I use daily. So, when I saw this $4 Forever 21 version, I had zero expectations. How could anything come remotely close to my Holy Grail curler, let alone one that costs less than a latte? While this lash curler has excellent grip and performs decently, it missed some of my lashes. In my opinion, this tool isn't a must-have, but it still gets the job done.
This palette was the biggest surprise in the best way possible. It's a must-buy for all skin tones. With a combination of six cream concealers, you can contour to perfection. I was able to mix a few shades to get a match, and the lighter ones covered up the redness on my cheeks seamlessly. I highly recommended.
These sponges are versatile when it comes to makeup application, and it never hurts to keep a pack of these on hand. When damp, they work just as well as pricier makeup sponges. Fifty sponges for five bucks is already a steal, but here's a tip: Cut them up as needed to really get more bang for your buck.
Made in Korea, which you may know by now is a beauty mecca, these aren't your average oil blotting sheets. They're infused with activated charcoal, which helps detoxify your skin. If you're on the oily side like me, these are perfect for combatting that 2 p.m. shine and keeping your makeup on lock. I don't want to live without them.
