See Essie's New Collection

Each year, we wait with bated breath to see Essie's new spring nail polish launches, thanks to the brand's expertise in creating perfect pastels. Springtime and pastels go hand in hand, which is why we think there's no better way to celebrate the change of seasons and the slow turn toward warmer and longer days than by treating ourselves to a cheery new manicure (wouldn't you agree?). There's just something about bright, freshly painted nails that draws us out of our winter funk and into a state of new spring beauty inspiration and optimism.

This year, as always, the brand didn't disappoint. It recently launched a six-shade collection of nail polishes that were each inspired by the sea, the sun, and the sand—and gave Byrdie the exclusive first look. The shades run the gamut between sea-foam green and tropical orange, and (big surprise) we're obsessed. That's why we had to show you two new original nail designs that feature the new collection. They were created by celebrity nail artist Steph Stone, and they're sure to get spring and summer manicure inspiration flowing.

Essie Pass-Port to Sail $9

The first step in creating this coral reef–reminiscent design is to paint each nail with the sheer ivory base called Pass-Port to Sail. The soft sandy beige color will flatter any skin tone.

Essie Anchor Down $9

Next reach for Anchor Down, which is a denim blue nail polish complete with pewter gray undertones. Create half-moon shapes on each nail.

Essie Stripes & Sails $9

Next take Stripes & Sails, which is a vivid teal shade, and dab it onto the tip of each nail using a disposable sponge. (This color is definitely a contender for our favorite shade.) Then all that's left is adding a small dot of the collection's sea-foam green shade.

Essie Perfect Mate $9

The next nail design reminds us of a vintage beach umbrella or a vacation postcard from sometime circa 1945. The muted shades pair perfectly together. Start with a base of Perfect Mate, which is a bright coral pink shade.

Essie Bon Boy-Age $9

Then pick up the lovely sea-foam green color called Bon Boy-Age and cover a diagonal strip of each nail with it. After that, move back to Anchor Down for a contrasting diagonal line. This keeps the design looking vintage-inspired yet modern at the same time.

Essie At the Helm $9

The last shade is called At the Helm, and it's a vivid orange color that reminds us of tropical fruit. To us, it's a shade that screams warm weather, beach days, and sunshine.

The entire collection is on sale now. You can find it on the brand's website, along with various designated retailers. Each of the shades retails for $9. Excuse us while we go scoop up all six of the nautically inspired shades.
