We don't know about you, but nothing makes our Monday more bearable than a bite of beauty news that's equally exciting and inspiring. This morning's dish? Model Duckie Thot, 22, is officially L'Oréal's newest global spokesperson, and frankly, we're not surprised. Thot is increasingly using her growing platform to spread awareness surrounding industry inclusivity, self-love, and confidence, and of course her head-turning beauty is hard not to notice either. (FYI—she'll be one of 19 models of color walking the Victoria's Secret runway this fall.) The industry is already predicting she has the rare formula to become one of the world's most iconic supermodels and rumblings like "the next Naomi Campbell" have even been whispered.
"For both her breath-taking look and advocating for diversity and self-love, Duckie Thot has been hailed 'future supermodel,'" reads a glowing press release from the brand. "Now the Australian-Sudanese voice for Black Beauty makes her brand debut at PFW SS19, by stepping into the L'Oréal Paris family and declaring 'Because I'm Worth It."
While Thot has previously commended brands like Fenty and Lancôme for their inclusivity, she's ecstatic to join the iconic likes of L'Oréal to continue advocating for diversity and to use her powerful stance in the beauty industry to make a difference. (Plus, it's long been acknowledged the brand is one of the best drugstore options as far as inclusive shade ranges go—it's the pillar that cult-loved True Match Foundation was built upon.)
"I'm honored to represent L'Oréal Paris, a brand that celebrates infinite ways to be beautiful and makes products for all women," Thot explains in the press release. "I'm looking forward to helping more girls love the beauty of their dark skin. In my mind, I'm going back in time and telling the young girl I was: 'Dream big, work hard and trust in yourself girl because one day you're going to say 'yes' to the N°1 beauty brand!"
