When you’re blonde and you run out of dry shampoo, the cause for alarm is low because you know that your trusty baby powder will get you through. If you don’t have light hair, you may think you’re out of options, but you’re not. "Your kitchen cupboards hold everything you need to make your own dry shampoo," says Mercedes Parrilli, international artist for George the Salon Chicago. Whether you’re blond, brunette, or a redhead, you can DIY an all-natural homemade dry shampoo in seconds, and you only need two ingredients.

The main ingredient for all three hair colors is oil-absorbing cornstarch. If you have brown hair, mix in unsweetened cocoa powder. The darker your hair is, the more cocoa powder you should add.
For red hair, use equal parts cinnamon and cornstarch. You’ll get a faint whiff of cinnamon, but nothing overpowering.
For blonds and gray-haired beauties, all you need is the cornstarch, plus a drop or two of whatever essential oil you wish to use as fragrance.
How to Apply
To use it, simply mix your two ingredients together, pour the mixture into a clean salt shaker and sprinkle for easy application. No salt shaker? Parrilli recommends dusting it on with a large, fluffy makeup brush. And there you have it: an inexpensive, all-natural dry shampoo that you can customize to your hair color.
