When Diane Kruger appeared on the red carpet for the Golden Hearts Awards earlier this month with coppery-looking locks (seen below), we didn't think much of it—after all, the strawberry hue wasn't that much of a departure from her usual blond, it's one of the biggest colors of the season, and, well, it looked great.
But what we didn't know is that the color was actually the result of an at-home beauty snafu on Kruger's part. She tells Allure that when she attempted a drugstore glossing treatment at home, her hair turned a muddy shade of orange.
But of course, when you're Diane Kruger, you have beauty backup on speed dial. "I called anybody that I know in New York who could help me. Serge Normant literally saved me this morning. And now it's still slightly red, but it's getting better. I have to keep going back. The woman at the salon who is helping me said it's going to take three visits."
When she appeared at her next event five days later, she was back to blond, but we have to say—we kind of liked the amber color. If only our DIY beauty disasters looked so good…
Avoid a gloss disaster of your own by sticking with a clear formula, like Rita Hazan's Ultimate Shine Gloss ($26).
