This Is the One Moisturizer Every Dermatologist Keeps Prescribing Me

I take dermatologists' recommendations to heart the same way I heed the advice of makeup artists and hairstylists. They're all trained pros after all, so when I sit down with them and they have the chance to assess my needs and listen to my requests, I feel confident that they know what's best for me (and it's very rare that they leave me disappointed!). What's even more interesting, however, is when different experts recommend the same product. Then I feel like I have to try it.

A few months ago, I visited Rachel Nazarian, MD, of Schweiger Dermatology Group in NYC and had her evaluate my skincare routine. I listed off my prestige rotation of products and got a bit of a finger-wagging afterward. Nazarian told me to swap out my slew of creams and oils with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel ($17) to take care of my dull, dry complexion.

Then I received my first-ever laser facial with the Nordlys Hybrid Laser System by Ellipse (an amazing treatment, but you definitely have to be mentally prepared for the *zapping* beforehand), and the doctor handed me a few tubes of the Hydro Boost Water Gel afterward for hydration. Hmmm, I thought. If he's recommending I put this on after I just had my skin zapped, it really must be good.

I've met with several other dermatologists who've suggested I use the cooling blue gel as well. Does Neutrogena have a partnership with different dermatology offices? Maybe, but one thing's for certain: This stuff works. My skin has never been more plump or hydrated than when I've used this product that's infused with hyaluronic acid, which, by the way, can absorb up to 1000 times its weight in water. It also smells really pleasant and doesn't hurt my wallet nearly as much as other high-end moisturizers. So because of this, I've been religiously using the gel morning and night. Doctor's orders.
