Midway through October, CoverGirl effectively broke the internet with a major announcement—that 17-year-old beauty vlogger James Charles would be its first-ever male ambassador. Now, less than a month later, the brand is making history yet again: Nura Afia, a Muslim beauty blogger with more than 200,000 subscribers on YouTube, will be the newest spokesmodel.
Afia will specifically front CoverGirl's #LashEquality campaign, which celebrates inclusivity (as well as the brand's brand-new So Lashy Mascara, $12). (And it's just as well since Denver-based Afia has some of the most enviable lashes we've ever seen.)
It's rare to see a hijab represented in any kind of national beauty campaign, let alone for one of the top cosmetic brands in the world. CoverGirl continues to break barriers and illustrate what inclusivity truly looks like, and we couldn't be more excited to see what (and who!) else is in store.
