We all recognize Cindy Crawford as belonging to that elite group of supermodels who ruled the '90s (you know, the group composed of Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Naomi Campbell, and Claudia Schiffer, among others?). She's been in a substantial set of iconic ad campaigns and designer shows, not to mention music videos. Because of this, her influence and celebrity is still dominating pop culture, even in 2017 (her reign will never end). But now, her legacy is even more poignant, considering that her daughter Kaia Gerber is following in her footsteps.
This is Gerber's first participation in fashion month, and she's already booked top shows like Coach and Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week and Moschino and Prada during Milan Fashion Week. But the show we're currently concerned with is Versace S/S 18, which she just walked in today. With her mom. And four other iconic '90s supermodels. Keep scrolling to see photos of Crawford and Gerber at the Versace show.
First, we have Gerber. Her hair and makeup matched that of the other runway models. It was fresh and modern with the monochromatic brown makeup and toned-down hair that emphasized Versace's namesake bright and colorful clothing. We love the sleek middle part and youthful inner eye highlight. It makes the gold hair accessories and bold embellished earrings look maximalist-chic, not overpowering.
Then we have Crawford. Her appearance was surprising, to say the least. After all, she's been retired from the runway for some years now (she is 51 years old if you can believe it). Her hair and makeup were less fresh and youthful as they were poised and powerful. Her smoked-out black-brown eye shadow was complemented by a frosty nude lip—a nod to the '90s perhaps?—and voluminous, side-parted hair. Can we look like that when we're 51, please?
Crawford's appearance in the show was made all the more mind-blowing considering that some of her famous colleagues were alongside her—specifically Carla Bruni, Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, and Helena Christensen. It was a full-fledged '90s reunion that made jaws drop to the ground in a collective gasp heard 'round the world.
We, for one, can't believe these ladies are all in their 40s and 50s. They look incredible, posed tall and statuesque in various styles of draped golden gowns. Seriously, can you get more iconic than that? We're taking note for Halloween. Maybe we can gather some friends and channel these five supermodels in an epic group costume.
