Christian Serratos has acted in some of the most recognizable television and film franchises of the past two decades. You may recognize her as Rosita Espinosa from The Walking Dead or Angela Weber from The Twilight Saga Series. If you missed her in those, Serratos is set to play the iconic singer Selena in Netflix’s upcoming Selena: The Series.
Throughout her career, the powerhouse actress has always shown up to red carpets and premieres rocking fun, fresh beauty looks. And her appearance at the 2020 American Music Awards was no exception. We got an exclusive glimpse into her getting ready process for the night’s festivities via her makeup artist Jenna Kristina, who gave the actress a rusty smokey eye and a nude lip. Keep scrolling to see her getting-ready photo diary.
Like most makeup artists, Kristina believes that good makeup starts with skin that is properly prepped and primed. “I wanted her skin to be glowing but also be able to hold makeup all night long," she tells us. "We used Allies of Skin Multi Hyaluronic Antioxidant Hydration Serum ($75) to get maximum moisture. Next, I layered their Peptides and Antioxidants Firming Daily Treatment ($109) to increase her skin's luminosity and radiance.”
Kristina then used the Allies of Skin Molecular Savior Probiotics Treatment Mist ($59). "It’s perfect for before and after makeup. It soothes the skin and improves skin tone," she says. She finished off her skincare prep by using a Gua Sha tool to massage Serratos' face.
Then, Kristina got started on Serratos' glam, which she describes as the "ultimate sexy makeup." The actress already has a flawless complexion, but Kristina enhanced her skin using Dior face products. "We used a bit of Dior Forever Skin Glow Foundation ($52) and Forever Skin Correct ($36) to brighten in certain areas," she says. "I used the Dior Backstage Contour Palette ($45) and Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette ($45) in copper-gold to create a beautiful warm glowy face."
Kristina then began work on Serratos' eye makeup. "For her eyes, the Diorshow Brow Styler ($29) in Universal Brown created the perfect brow," she tells us.
"Next, I mixed the pearly bronze and matte red Diorshow 24h Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner ($33) and buffed it onto the lid as an eyeshadow base," Kristina says. "The Dior 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($62) in Mitzah was a perfect five pan palette to match the look we were going for. I then went for a matte brown eyeliner along the lash line and topped off with Diorshow Mascara ($30)."
"We finished the look with Rouge Dior Ultra Rouge Lipstick ($38) in #325 Ultra Tender for the softest wash of nude color," Kristina tells us.
Serratos was off to present the award for the Best Latin Album looking as stunning as ever.
