Here at Byrdie, a lot of little-known brands come across our desk. Part of the job is to try them all. Oftentimes, we find a hidden gem, and we consider it our editorial duty to share it with you. One such brand is Chosungah 22, an innovator in Korean beauty that just became available stateside this past fall. We can’t get enough of the playful packaging and unique formulas, and we have a feeling you’re about to meet your new obsession.

Chosungah 22 was started by South Korea’s leading makeup artist, Chosungah. She’s worked with all of the top K-pop stars and celebrities, and she’s responsible for shaping K-beauty into what it is today. She’s even collaborated with several major makeup brands, including MAC. She’s upheld her philosophy that “makeup should be simple and fun” for the past 24 years and carried that into her own line.
Her line is an extensive collection of multitasking makeup and skincare products. Think moisturizers with the texture of honey (yes, honey—it sounds strange, but it’s actually amazing) that doubles as a luminizing primer and a foundation-powder hybrid that works as an oil-controlling mattifier (like the Bounce Up Pact above). And, when applicable, refills and mini-size versions are available. The refill for this compact is just $31.
Korean beauty is all about that luminous, flawless skin, so pretty much every skin and complexion product serves that end. Like this skin-brightening highlighter that’s formulated with ingredients to even skin tone and fight wrinkles over time while delivering an instant complexion boost. And these aren’t empty claims—they’re supported by clinical trials.
Originally, the colorful packaging and creative names caught our eyes. Case in point: this brow definer. Unlike any brow makeup we’ve used before, this applicator offers you multiple ways to use it. You can use just the brush for light definition. Or use the tip for a bolder look. And if you’re ever unsure of how to use the products, just head over to the brand’s website for step-by-step tutorials, photos, and more product details.
Lipstick is lipstick, right? Wrong. Chosungah 22’s lipstick looks like Jell-O and tastes like candy. The formula is super moisturizing with vitamin E and argan oil and, despite what the translucent color may lead you to believe, delivers highly pigmented hues. Like most Chosungah 22 products, they’re designed to mix and match to create your own unique color (which explains why you’ll find yellow and green shades for plenty of the lip products).
The skincare products are less readily available in the U.S., but they’re definitely not to be missed. Curiosity drew us to moisturizers that look like honey and grape jelly, but the results kept us coming back for more. This highly hydrating gel-cream can be used as a sleep mask when your skin needs a little TLC. If you’re not ready to commit, pick up the Tiny ($14) version to test out. We promise you’ll be hooked.
