We'd never say this lightly, but Charlotte Tilbury may have just outdone herself. Not only is her newest product a personal project gone public, much like her cult-loved Magic Cream, but it also involves Kate Moss. The makeup goddess's first fragrance, Scent of a Dream, has arrived.
Here's the backstory: Tilbury has been wearing her own self-concocted fragrance for years, sharing samples with only a select few celeb clients—including good friend Kate Moss, of course. And because Tilbury never does anything less than 1000%, she crafted a scent that's not merely pretty but also visceral and all-consuming. "I believe you can use Scent of a Dream to create an emotional pathway with someone else's energy centers: their brain, heart and sex receptors, igniting the senses," she tells British Vogue. "You can directly alter their state of mind and body through this scent."
The dramatic blend includes notes of flame tree, lemon, black pepper, amber, jasmine, and tuberose as well as hedione, a compound extracted from magnolias that has been shown to set off the brain's pleasure receptors.
Moss has also been a fan of the fragrance for some time, making her the perfect face for the upcoming campaign—which was fittingly shot by photographer Sølve Sundsbø, who is known for his ethereal aesthetic. "She encompasses everything that is ethereal and powerful about this perfume," Tilbury says of Moss. "I have known Kate for 25 years now and have had so many incredible experiences with her. … She gets me, and she gets the scent."
"Charlotte and I have always had this instant, naughty chemistry," Moss adds. "Charlotte has this electric passion and energy for life—she's a bit magical." From the sound of things, so is this fragrance.
Scent of a Dream launches on August 15. In the meantime, brush up on these makeup secrets straight from Tilbury herself.
