You love beauty products—but you’re running out of bathroom counter (and medicine cabinet and closet) space.
But if you buy just one bottle of castile soap, you can dump about a half-dozen products clogging your precious bathroom real estate. In addition to having a zillion uses for cleaning, castile soap has some awesome beauty uses when combined with common kitchen ingredients.

In addition to being the best cheap body wash on the planet, castile soap is the ideal mild cleanser for makeup brushes and hairbrushes. Wash your brushes weekly to keep gross bacteria and oil at bay.
Add a squirt of castile soap and a few drops of essential oil (think sweet almond, peppermint, or grapefruit oil) to your bath for a sweet-smelling, skin-softening soak.
Castile soap alone is a little too drying to wash hair. Make a moisturizing, oil-infused shampoo by combining one part fruit or vegetable oil to 10 parts castile soap and 10 parts distilled water. We like grape-seed oil for its light scent and high antioxidant and fatty acid content.
Need a pick-me-up after a long day? Add a few drops of your favorite scented castile soap (we like Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap in Lavender) to a hot washcloth, lay it on your face, and kick back for 10 minutes. When you’re done, you’ll have rosier cheeks, smoother and more hydrated skin, and brighter eyes.
Never buy expensive hand soaps again! Just buy an empty foaming pump bottle and fill it with one part castile soap and about five parts distilled water. (Avoid using tap water, which may encourage microbial growth.)
Combine castile soap and virgin coconut oil for a shaving cream that’s thick, a little foamy, gentle, and so moisturizing. Combine the ingredients in a food processor or blender, and store the mixture in a small airtight jar.
