Though she's traded avant-garde editorials and couture runway getups for a career in acting, Cara Delevingne has proven time and again over the past year that she's still very much the beauty provocateur we know and love. Case in point: The actress showed up to this year's Burning Man festival yesterday sporting what may be the most festival-appropriate braids we’ve ever seen. Move over, glitter roots—pastel plaits are a trend thats sure to carry over into next year's festival lineup.
As it turns out, replicating these braids is fairly easy. As long as you have some colorful hair extensions and deft braiding fingers, this edgy-punk look can be yours in a snap. And you get major results for your few minutes of effort: The result is a Mad Max-meets-Khaleesi 'do with a rave-worthy twist. Are you feeling bold? hairstylist Laura Polko gives us the details below.
To start, Polko divided Delevingne's hair into five sections and clipped teal extensions around the crown. Next, she began braiding each section, weaving in different color extensions as she went to bulk up the braids and add plenty of length. She finished each braid off with a Scunci hair tie ($6).
As for the extensions themselves, try Design Lengths' Snap It 2 Piece Extensions ($13), which come in a rainbow of colors.
