Red lipstick always makes an appearance around the holidays, but we think a deep, perfectly plummy berry hue is a cool alternative to tried-and-true crimson. Exhibit A: Cameron Diaz’s raspberry-tinged pout at the NYC premiere of Annie. “Cameron loves to play with color, but keeps it focused to one area of the face,” makeup artist Robin Fredrickz says. “We immediately fell in love with the deep berry shade of Marc Jacobs’ Beauty Kiss Pop Lip Color Stick ($28) in Headliner 608, which we used to layer and blend onto the lips.” And that wasn’t all she did with the versatile product—she also dabbed a bit of it on Diaz’s cheeks for a rosy flush.
To balance out the bold lip, Fredrickz brushed the matte pink shadow from Marc Jacobs Beauty’s Style-Eye Con No.7 Plus Shadow ($59) in The Dreamer all over Diaz’s lid, then used the pale shimmery pink shadow in the inner corner of her eyes. After blending the dark brown shadow in her crease to add definition, Fredrickz finished by lining her eyes with the brand’s Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25) in Browned(Out), a brown liner with just a touch of glint. The finishing touch? A spritz of Baszicare’s Roseus Floral Hydrating Toner ($110) for a dewy glow. “Because I prefer skin to be seen through makeup, not only did I spritz the Roseus Floral Hydrating Toner under the makeup, I also put a light mist on her when I finished her makeup,” Robin explains. “It set her look beautifully!”
