If there’s one look that’s come to define this summer, it’s slicked back hair and a bright lip. Sometimes, like on Nicole Richie and Emily Van Camp, it meant a ballerina-like bun, while Chloe Sevigny and Emma Watson cut deep side parts into their shiny locks. Everyone from Kerry Washington to Diane Kruger to Rooney Mara pulled off the easy look over the past two months—but we picked ten of our favorites, above. With 21 days of summer left, it’s your turn to grab some shine spray and give it a shot.
Nicole Richie kicked off the trend at the CFDA Fashion Awards in New York, proving that one needn’t wait for fall to wear a brick red lip. Makeup artist Jake Bailey used M.A.C.'s Lip Pencil ($15) in Brick for Richie's long-lasting matte finish.

At the LA premiere of The Bling Ring, Chloe Sevigny accessorized her flattened hair with major lashes and an orange lip. Makeup artist Jessica Scantlin used Julie Hewett’s Lipstick ($24) in Belle Noir.

Though slightly wet-looking, Leelee Sobieski’s hair maintained texture at the haute couture shows in Paris in July, perfectly framing her orange red lip. The actress did her own makeup, layering Dior's Rouge Diorific Long Wearing True Color Lipstick ($38) in #014 underneath Clinique's Chubby Stick ($17) in Two Ton Tomato.

Pink was the word for model-turned-blogger Hanneli Mustaparta at an amfAR gala in New York. If you’re going to use anything more than extra mascara on your eyes while rocking this look, follow Mustaparta’s lead and draw a simple black line across your upper lashline. (Check out the new Ultra Bold Eyeliner Marker ($8) from Palladio.)
Emily VanCamp spiced things up by wrapping a braid around her tight bun at a Clinique party in New York. The Revenge star went with a classic shocking pink: Clinique’s Chubby Stick ($16) in Plushest Punch.
We told you coral was having a moment. Next time you’re at the drugstore, grab a couple of options in honor of Bella Heathcote’s look at the opening of USC’s Helmut Newton exhibition. We like L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Lipstick ($6) in Tropical Coral, Boots' No.7 Moisture Drench Lipstick ($10) in Coral Rose, and Maybelline’s SuperStay 14hr Lip Color ($7) in Keep Me Coral. (Heathcote wears M.A.C.’s Lipstick ($15) in Lady Danger.)

Pretty much anything looks good with a beaming smile, but Jessica Biel’s almost lacquered centered part and berry lip made her our favorite from MTV’s VMAs. Makeup artist Katey Denno says, “I used a crazy mix of a bunch of different ones until we found just the right shade of purple, and then I gave her a Burt's Bees' Tinted Lip Balm ($3) in Sweet Violet to maintain the color and moisture through the night." Score that shine with Aveda’s Brilliant Spray On Shine ($20).

You won’t find a pigment thicker than O.C.C.’s Lip Tar ($18), our suggestion for a lip as saturated as Iggy Azalea’s at last month’s VMAs in Brooklyn.
The other thing all of these looks having in common? Barely there eye makeup. It’s Emma Watson’s glossy eye that makes this our absolute favorite version. Try pressing Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream ($20) onto your lids and into the inner corners of your eye post-mascara.
Miranda Kerr regularly steps off trans-continental flights looking impossibly fresh-faced. Here, she offers a good reminder that bright needn’t mean matte. Try Giorgio Armani’s Rouge d’Armani Lipstick ($32) in #401 for a glossy red.
