I’ll be the first to admit my bag is always overweight when I travel. Why? I bring my entire skincare routine and I wouldn't have it any other way. That said, I’m always on the hunt for travel-friendly products to add to my usual line-up. When I first discovered Bolt Beauty's Skincare Capsules on Tik-Tok, I was intrigued. The brand's delightful ASMR-quality content aside, Bolt Beauty created a biodegradable product offered in adorable packaging—and it works. Read on for my entire experience with Bolt Beauty's Skincare Capsules, as well as what's in them, how they affected my skin, and more.

About the brand: Bolt Beauty was established with the intention of creating good quality skincare that can be carried around easily.
About My Skin: Normal with bouts of rosacea and slight oiliness
My skin is pretty normal aside from slight rosacea flare-ups and oiliness based on the weather. Diving into my skincare routine, I am very consistent and I have a well-established routine. In addition to my everyday routine, I mask once or twice a week depending on what my skin needs. I try a variety of products, but I am super strict in regards to what I try and how I add it into my regimen.
For this trial, I swapped out my cleanser, serums, and moisturizer for these products. Bolt Beauty’s skincare capsule line is composed of three skincare products: a cleanser, a serum, and a moisturizer. The Filthy Clean Cleanser and Mad About Moisture Moisturizer are intended for use both morning and night, while the Glow Don’t Shine serum is for the morning.
The Feel: Lightweight and not sticky or greasy
The capsule formulas all feel super lightweight on my skin. The textures aren't too thick or thin, allowing for a seamless application. It’s also worth noting they don’t make my skin feel greasy at all. Zero residue was left on my skin after application making it easy to wear alone or underneath makeup.
The Packaging: Small capsules in refillable jars
The packaging is by far my favorite aspect of the products. They're biodegradable—composed of seaweed—and all you need to do is mix the empty capsules around in a hot cup of water. They dissolve and you're done, with zero waste.
The Results: Increase in glow and hydration
I saw results with the capsules after using them for about a week. The cleanser lathers up perfectly and the serum and moisturizer immediately sink into my skin. I saw both an increase in glow and hydration in my skin with minimal usage. In addition, the slight oiliness I had was mattified after application of the Glow Don’t Shine Serum in the morning.
The Value: They last over 100 days
Compared to most capsule products on the market, Bolt’s skincare capsules are less expensive. Each jar comes with 100 capsules and the price ranges from $38 to $66, depending on whether you're purchasing a serum, a cleanser, or a moisturizer. When using one capsule of serum per day, it will last you 100 days or a little bit over three months.
Similar Products: You have options
Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules Line Erasing Night Serum: These retinol serum capsules from Elizabeth Arden cost $92 for 90 capsules. Based on price alone, that’s a lot more expensive than Bolt Beauty’s which is $53 for 100 capsules.
Eve Lom Cleansing Oil Capsules: Although Eve Lom’s Cleanser capsules look similar to Bolt Beauty’s, they have two major differences. First, Eve Lom's cleanser is oil-based and Bolt’s is gel-based. Second, the price is $75 for 50 capsules whereas Bolt Beauty’s is $53 for 100 capsules.
Our Verdict: Great quality, biodegradable skincare
I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a travel-friendly, quality skincare routine. My skin is plump, hydrated, and happy. The results speak for themselves.
