I'm the first to admit that my daily makeup routine tends to veer toward the "no-makeup" makeup look, which consists of minimal foundation and blush and certainly no eyeliner or lipstick. Blame it on laziness or poor time management from hitting that snooze button, but my daily routine is certainly not head-turning.
When the seasons start to change, however, I always feel inspired to shift my makeup routine, opting for richer hues and bit more dramatic look. With the holidays around the corner, I'm using any and all gatherings as an excuse to test out some new looks, specifically, bold pigmented eye shadows. Whether I'm covering my lids in frosty hues or dawning a dark-purple smoky-eye, check out the palettes and colors I plan to experiment with this season.
Pinks and Pastels
It may seem counterintuitive to test out colors so indicative of spring, but pinks, especially when paired with a glossy shine finish, feel very on-trend and fresh for winter. I plan to alternate between frosty shades of green and subtle rosy pinks for a look that's surprisingly striking but not overwhelming.
Primary colors like blues and red can easily feel a bit costumey, but when I saw these bold shades on the runway this season I knew I had to give them a try. I'm lining my eyes with cobalt blue and pairing them with a nude lip and volumizing mascara.
Arguably the boldest of all eye shadow looks, a smoky eye is the perfect recipe to make your eye color pop. If you're not ready to don all-black lids, try some of these equally sultry options, like plum or bronze, below.
