Usually, I fall in love with a specific beauty product (or two). Rarely do I fall in love with an entire brand. And when I say rarely, I mean it—after a lifetime of being a self-proclaimed beauty buff, and over three years as a beauty writer, it's only happened a handful of times. It happened when I tried Nars products, it happened when I tried Peach & Lily, and, most recently, it happened when I tried Bodyography.
If you're unfamiliar with Bodyography, you're not alone. I've mentioned the brand to family, friends, and industry acquaintances on multiple occasions, and I'm almost always met with a quizzical look and a follow-up question: "What's that brand called?" It's a relatively under-the-radar cosmetics brand that's responsible for some of the most well-worn products in my beauty bag. I fortuitously stumbled across it while scrolling through Instagram a couple of years ago, and I'm certainly glad I did—now I'm a full-fledged brand loyalist. I think other people would be, too, if only they were aware of it.

Bodyography is all about self-expression and clean formulations. Lori Leib, creative director and co-founder of Bodyography, says, "Bodyography bridges the gap between professional artists and loyal beauty lovers. We are bringing quality, innovation, and clean beauty to everyone. We believe in simplifying beauty, embracing color, diving headfirst into trends, and experimenting with new looks. We wholeheartedly embrace everything that makes you bold, brilliant, and uniquely you."
She continues, "The Bodyography consumer varies, as we cater to professionals and everyday beauty lovers alike. That being said, the Bodyography fan is beauty-obsessed, they are 25–35 and not afraid to try new looks, embrace unique colors and textures, and are always one step ahead of the 'it' beauty trends. Our target customer is also mindful of what they put on their skin and the footprint they leave behind on this planet. Our customers are our muses, and you see it in everything we do as a brand."

Let's begin with what might be Bodyography's best-known product. To me, it's kind of the brand's signature product, since it's the first one I ever tried and loved. It's called Glitter Pigment, and it's a unique combination of saturated color and glitter (the kind that you would expect to see from a loose pigment) and the loveliest silky and cushiony texture (the kind that you would expect to see from a cream shadow).
In this picture, I'm wearing the brand's Glitter Pigment in Soiree, which is a sparkly gunmetal gray shade.
I apply the Glitter Pigment directly to my eyelids using my ring finger. If I'm feeling casual, I blend it out into a sheer and sparkly finish. If I'm feeling more dramatic, I layer the pigment until it becomes a full wash of bold, glittery color. If you're looking for other ways to wear the product, makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes is a great source of inspiration. She uses it in many of her Instagram makeup tutorials, since it adds a dewy, wet-looking sheen to her eyelids.
Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick
I love the Lip Lava Liquid Lipstick in Jetsetter, which is a matte, peachy-nude shade. The lipstick starts out as a thin—almost runny—liquid, before drying down to an opaque and powdery finish. I like it for its crazy-pigmented and relatively nondrying formula.
Fabric Texture Lipstick
Next, I need to talk about the brand's Fabric Texture Lipstick, which is a demi-matte cream lipstick that just might be the most versatile lipstick I own. It's creamy and blendable, which means I can sheer it out with my fingers or a fluffy brush for a blotted lip look, or I can layer the color on for a full-blown opaque lip. It has this amazing blurring effect—it disguises lines and dryness and makes your lips look velvety soft.
Here, I'm wearing the shade Velvet, which is a dark berry shade. I applied it straight from the bullet, then blended it a bit around the perimeter of my lips to accentuate that cool blotted effect. After that, I pressed my fingers to my lips and patted the color transfer onto my cheeks as a makeshift monochromatic blush.
Crystal Glide Liquid Eyeshadow
In the previous photo, I'm also wearing Bodyography's Crystal Glide Liquid Eyeshadow in Citrine on my eyelids. I applied it straight from the tube using the doe-foot applicator, then I sheered it out using my ring finger for a soft and subtle finish. I'm pretty sure that this berry-and-gold look will become my holiday-season makeup uniform.
Shadow Stylist Crayon
Another standout product is the Shadow Stylist Crayon, which is a traditional shadow stick. I love it because it's creamy and blendable (no tugging when you apply it to the sensitive eye area), and it comes in a variety of shades that range from soft and subtle to bold and colorful.
I love wearing the Shadow Stylist Crayon in the shade Cobalt, which is a metallic royal blue. I use it like I would an eyeliner, placing it on the outer corner of my eyes, on the lash line, before shaping it into a cat-eye shape with a liner brush. I've used the other shades as allover eye shadows, but there's just something I like about using the blue as a liner. It's eye-catching and nontraditional, as opposed to standard black eyeliner. To give the color even more punch and saturation, I took the Vivid Bright Palette ($33) and pressed the two darkest blue shades over the top of the liner.
Even though I've concentrated on its makeup products, Bodyography has a lot of skincare offerings too. I'm excited to dive into those next. If there's one thing I leave you with, it's this: Bodyography products are definitely worth trying out for yourself. If you're anything like me, they'll quickly become the staples of your daily makeup routine.
