When it comes to breaking records and setting trends, Lisa of the chart-topping South Korean girl group Blackpink is pretty much an expert. The group’s “How You like That” video became one of YoutTube’s most viewed videos in 24 hours. Not to mention, the multi-talented dancer and rapper has racked up 40 million followers on Instagram, making her the most followed K-Pop idol on the 'Gram. Now the star has teamed up with MAC as the brand’s newest Global Brand Ambassador, and she’s the first female Korean entertainer to do so.
“M·A·C is truly at the forefront of trendsetting, which reminds me every time I see a M·A·C campaign or the incredible looks their artists create backstage at fashion weeks around the world,” she says in a press release. “It’s an honor to partner with a brand with such an incredible heritage and unrivaled expertise in makeup artistry. I am thrilled and looking forward to this journey!”
She also has a few words for her supporting fans who look up to her, "Never give up on your dreams, no matter how painful and difficult your journey is. If you trust in yourself and fight for it until the end, your dreams WILL come true. You can do it!"
Not only will she be the face of the brand and its muse, but she’ll be sharing her skincare regimens and beauty secrets. No word yet on how she styles her signature bangs but we can share exactly how to get the look pictured in her new MAC campaign and this Byrdie exclusive behind-the-scenes photo (pictured above).
Naturally, she’s wearing a full face of MAC with Studio Fix Fluid ($33) as her base and Extra Dimension Skinfinish ($36) in Show Gold for that glow. The standout here is that impressive matte lip courtesy of Powder Kiss Lipstick ($21) in Mull it Over a dirty peach shade.
On Lisa's eyes, a combination of shimmery shadows helps her achieve that glittery, glam liner. Eyeshadows ($18) in the shades Espresso and Stars ‘N’ Rockets make a great base while Dazzleshadow liquid ($23) in Pantherized, Diamond Crumbles, and Not Afraid to Sparkle is the finishing touch.
There's more to come from the beauty brand and the superstar whose newly released Netflix documentary is climbing the ranks on Netflix, and we're looking forward to it. Drew Elliott, Senior Vice President and Global Creative Director for M·A·C Cosmetics offers this statement for what's in store:
“Always confident and never one to shy away from risks, she embodies our commitment to celebrating individuality and self-expression above all else. We can’t wait for her fans to see what she has in store for them through our collaboration.”
