Just as a wedding dress is a totally different garment than any other formal gown, wedding makeup belongs in a category of its own, too. Every bride has their own unique aesthetic and personality, and on your wedding day, you want to make sure that the makeup just enhances the best possible version of who you are naturally. We've all seen what bad makeup looks like (come on, remember that one cousin?), but as it turns out, nailing a natural, timeless look that reflects your individuality is shockingly difficult.
Whether you're hiring a professional to do your wedding makeup or taking on the job yourself, having photo references to inspire you is key. We did the work for you and combed our favorite beauty Instagram accounts to find the best wedding makeup of 2018.

Monochromatic makeup is trendy right now, but we see this feminine look standing the test of time. For big, full lashes, apply individual lash extensions and choose a waterproof liner that will hold up to all of the elements on your big day. The best part? You can use the same product on both your cheeks and eyelids. Try Becca's Mineral Blush in Flowerchild ($32).
This hot pink lip and luminous skin is on the bolder side of bridal, but we are obsessed. Try NARS Audacious Lipstick in Greta ($34) to re-create the look.
Dewy, nude-y, glowy, flawless. This monochromatic, romantic makeup look is a thing of beauty. Peach is a beautiful tone to use when creating bridal makeup looks because it still gives the romantic vibe you're going for, but with an unexpected color that still goes with everything. If you want to add shimmer, apply a champagne shadow on top of the peach for highlight. For the perfect peach, try Too Faced Sweet Peach Papa Don't Peach Blush ($30).
A berry-nude lip and turquoise bottom liner have just enough personality for an edgy bride while remaining elegant enough for a wedding day. Plus, it's a way to incorporate one of your wedding colors into your look, too. Try Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Deep End ($22).
This ultra-youthful look is all about a glossy raspberry lip (try Sisley's Phyto-Lip Twist in Poppy, $50) and a highlight in the inner corners of the eyes. No matter how much French Champagne you drink, you'll look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.
You'd never think marigold eye shadow would work for a bridal look, but we are kind of obsessed with this. Not into the orange? Swap it out for a rosy color, like RMS Beauty Swift Shadow in Garden Rose ($20), for something a little quieter.
Not every bride is a red lip bride, but if that's your style, we highly recommend a matte orange-red, like Lancome Matte Shaker in Magic Orange ($22). This cushion-applied lip color has serious staying power, so will go the wedding-day distance. Paired with a natural eye, this look is a showstopper.
Never thought purple eye shadow could look so subtle and romantic, did you? Try Urban Decay's Eyeshadow in Tonic ($20).
For a sultrier bridal look, we are big fans of a warm brown smoky eye and nude-pink lip. The key is keeping it balanced and not having a ton of drama all at once. We recommend the LORAC Lipgloss in Alter Ego ($17).
Classic bridal beauty, perfectly executed. This champagne eye and slightly glossy neutral pink lip scream wedding day. To look natural on your wedding day, focus on the eyebrows and ensure they are full and shaped properly, lightly highlight, define the eyes, and add a pop of color to the lips to enhance ever so slightly. We love Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil Easy Shape + Fill ($24) for perfect brows all day long.
