When it comes to doing my makeup, I'm a hybrid between very extra and perpetually lazy. I know that the two characteristics don't seem like they collide, but I am living proof that you can live your best, most extra life with the least amount of makeup upkeep possible. To be frank, I like to look good without having to do the most. I love full-coverage, high-impact makeup products with a strong staying power. If it looks good in photos, in real life, and doesn't require lots of energy to apply, it's for me.
Now that we have this understanding, let me tell you about my latest hero product that's suitable for this particular purpose.
I'd had this vibrant blue eyeliner from Nars tucked away in my vanity for quite a while. It's the Larger Than Life Longwear Eyeliner ($26) in the shade Abbey Road. When the sun decides to creep out in New York, I get all excited and like to have a little more fun with color. This shimmery teal eye pencil fits the bill. No lie, as it seriously takes one swipe, and this pencil leaves a potent burst of color on my lids. It has a slightly metallic finish and looks so dramatic. Perfect.
According to its product description on the website, it lasts for 12 hours and is budgeproof (aka it never smears or cakes up). We'll see, I thought. I had a good first impression because its creamy formula glided right on my lids and took me 30 seconds tops to apply. In terms of its long-lasting promise, I put this cocky claim to the test during one of the first warmer days of spring a few months back. And let me tell you that this is a no-bullshit liner. Heat and humidity can't stand a chance.
Look how the vibrancy of this shade beams in the sun.
It's safe to say I've been loving this liner as my summer staple product. I've been hooked ever since.
So the ultimate test rolled around a few weeks ago when I took a girls' trip to Jamaica. Of course, I packed this in my makeup bag. Like the crazy, beauty-obsessed girl that I am, I decided to wear this liner on the hottest day in Montego Bay for our boat trip. I knew there was going to be lots of pics and moments to document, so of course, I was wearing it. Oh, and the twist is that this boat day also entailed snorkeling, an open bar, and seven hours in the direct sunlight.
I jumped in the ocean of Jamaica, plunged my head in water for over an hour marveling at all the cool fish, took a million photos, drank, danced, and sang with my sorority sisters for an entire day. And guess what? My liner lasted through the entire day. And looked even better after I snorkeled.
Here I am, happy as a clam, living my best life post-snorkeling with my liner by my side.
So, peeps, this liner's 12-hour claim is real. And no liner can live up to this one in my book. Big ups to Nars for creating the waterproof eye pencil of my dreams. Invest in this. And shop the below blue liners that'll give your eyes a similar vibe.
