I'm a Connoisseur of Vegan Snacks: Here Are My 12 Favorites

I’m going to tell you something I’m not proud of: I’m really bad at feeding myself. Grocery shopping never sounds fun, I’m a mediocre cook at best, and when I get hungry between meals, grabbing a bag of potato chips from the naughty drawer at work always sounds infinitely more appealing to me than slicing an apple from the not-so-naughty fruit bowl. What can I say? I like tasty, ultra-convenient food. And when that isn’t available, sometimes I skip meals altogether, which also isn’t good. Moreover, I choose to follow a plant-based diet (mostly for environmental and animal rights reasons)—based on my often-lazy meal habits, some might call me a “junk-food vegan.” And let me tell you, it’s hard out there for a vegan who wants to snack healthier, but also prefers to eat things that aren’t too hippie-dippie and don’t take so much effort that I just forego food altogether, leading to a major blood-sugar crash.

Enter Vegan Cuts. For the holidays last year, my brother gifted me with a yearlong subscription to this monthly vegan snack delivery service, where every 30 days, a box of 10-plus vegan snacks (think pea protein crisps, salty-sweet granola, vanilla supplement powder, etc.) from different brands shows up on my doorstep. (PS: The company also offers a monthly beauty box, but I’ve yet to try it.) My family is deeply familiar with my inability to feed myself, so this was really the perfect gift. Over the past six months, I have devoured over 70 new vegan snacks, making me a bit of a connoisseur of the genre—and on behalf of my fellow junk-minded vegans (or anyone who wants to snack a little healthier and way more sustainably), I wanted to share my favorites.
