It's always a good time to prioritize your fruit and veggie intake, especially since there are so many proven health benefits. What you can expect? Lower blood pressure, better digestion, more energy...the list goes on.

But packing the USDA recommended three to five servings of vegetables and two to four servings of fruit into your diet can be a challenge, especially if your idea of cooking is following the directions on a box of macaroni and cheese (no judgment). That’s where smoothies come in. In one smooth and sippable low-calorie meal or snack, you can get multiple servings of fruits and vegetables. You can also add ingredients that give you extra protein, fiber, probiotics, or superfoods. Oh, and everything tastes delicious.

Making your own smoothies can require a bit of planning and prep. If you’d rather have them delivered to your doorstep in a variety of flavors, read on. We’ve selected the best smoothie delivery services out there.

5 Best Smoothie Subscriptions of 2022

Best Overall: Live Pure Superfood Smoothie Cubes

Live Pure Superfood Smoothie Cubes

Live Pure Superfood Smoothie Cubes

Why We Chose It: Live Pure Cubes are delicious, easy on your budget, simple to store, easy on the environment, and packed with nutrients.

What We Like:

  • Pre-blended cubes come in reusable bags for easy storage
  • Packed with nutrients and probiotics and free of dairy, gluten, and additives
  • Delicious flavors taste like dessert
  • Choose to subscribe and save or order as you go

What We Don’t Like:

  • A roughly $4 dry ice handling fee

When your shipment of Live Pure Superfood Smoothie Cubes arrives, it’ll consist of pre-blended smoothie ice cubes packed in reusable Ziplock bags packed with recyclable materials and dry ice. The bags are easy to store in your freezer, unlike the smoothie cups offered by some other services, and the cubes can be shaken or blended with liquid (a dairy-free milk alternative works nicely) when you’re ready to indulge.

And enjoy it you will, because Live Pure’s flavors taste like your favorite desserts: There’s the Churro, Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein, Epic Mango, and more. Another nice thing about the cubes is that you can choose the size of your smoothie and even mix flavors to create new recipes. (Note: Once you try five cubes of the Coffee Mocha Recharge blended with five cubes of Mint Cacao, you’ll be seriously hooked.)

These smoothies are packed with healthy ingredients as well. There’s no added sugar, dairy, or gluten, and all the ingredients are USDA organic and non-GMO. You’ll find fruits and vegetables, nuts, superfoods like maca and lucuma, and five billion CFUs of probiotics in each serving. You can always add your own extras, like a scoop of protein powder, to customize these smoothies as well. The best part? They don’t cost an arm and a leg. The large bags are about $30 and make six smoothies (that’s about $5 per smoothie) and you can save roughly 5% and get free shipping if you subscribe. There are frequent deals and savings opportunities as well.

While there was a delay in our shipping, customer service was very helpful; the owner of the company sent a $30 gift card for the inconvenience.

Best Budget: Kencko

Why We Chose It: These shelf-stable smoothies are the easiest on your wallet and come in a variety of flavors that are packed with nutrients.

What We Like:

  • Low cost when you buy a box of 20 or 60
  • Shelf-stable and easy to store
  • Gluten-free, non-GMO, certified organic, and free of additives
  • Free shaker bottle with first order

What We Don’t Like:

  • Only 60-90 calories; not a meal replacement
  • Not as much variety as some other services

Kencko offers 15 different flash-frozen and slow-dried blends of about 2.5 servings of fruits and vegetables, which you can shake or blend with milk or water to create a healthy smoothie. They’re gluten-free, non-GMO, certified organic, and free of fillers and added sugars. Instead, you’ll get a delicious mix of nutritious fruits, vegetables, and superfoods.

For example, the Peaches blend contains carrots, sweet potato, peaches, rhubarb, and coconut water. But these smoothies are only 60 to 90 calories, so they’re not exactly a breakfast replacement. If you wanted to, you could add a scoop of protein powder or nut butter and some plant milk to solve that problem.

Kencko smoothies are also shelf-stable for up to six months and come in compostable packets that are easy to store in your pantry. A box of 20 smoothies costs $2.99 each, 30 cost $2.69 each, or you can get 60 smoothies for $2.49 each. Each box is a monthly subscription, but it’s easy to cancel anytime.

Best Variety: Daily Harvest

daily harvest

Byrdie is aware of a Daily Harvest recall related to customers being sickened after consuming its French Lentil + Leek Crumbles menu item. We are watching the situation closely and will consider this when we re-evaluate Daily Harvest.

Why We Chose It: With Daily Harvest, you can choose from more than 25 smoothie flavors, plus harvest bowls, flatbreads, and more. It’s easy to manage your subscription, and the customer service is great.

What We Like:

  • Wide variety of smoothies, lattes, and lunches
  • 95% of ingredients are organic
  • No added sugars or fillers

What We Don’t Like:

  • Pricier than other services
  • Smoothie cups take up space in the freezer

With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to build a box of meals that you’ll love from Daily Harvest. While the smoothie flavors are a bit hit or miss, there were some definite winners (here’s looking at you, Mint + Cacao, Carrot + Cinnamon, and Watermelon + Dragon Fruit). All of Daily Harvest’s ingredients are dairy and gluten-free, 95% organic, and no sugars or fillers are added to any of their meals.

It’s easy to manage your account, pause, and cancel online, and the customer support team is very helpful. Daily Harvest isn’t cheap, however. The smoothies are about $8 each, while the harvest bowls and flatbreads are roughly $9, and the oat and chia bowls are $6.

You’ll save the more you order, but even if you opt for the biggest box, your smoothies will still cost about $7 each. They’re big smoothies (maybe even big enough to share with a partner), but leftovers don’t keep well. You can’t choose the size of the smoothie like you can with Live Pure Cubes, since the ingredients aren’t pre-blended. Still, the easy prep and variety of meal options mean Daily Harvest will be worth the cost for many people.

Best Meal Replacement: Realm

Why We Chose It: Realm offers an affordable meal replacement with healthy ingredients and is shelf-stable.

What We Like:

  • Affordable
  • No added sugar, dairy, soy, or preservatives
  • Each smoothie is balanced with complex carbs, healthy fats, and plant protein

What We Don’t Like:

  • Only five available flavors

If you’re looking for a balanced breakfast replacement, Realm could fit the bill.

Each 200-calorie smoothie contains the right mix of complex carbs, plant protein, and healthy fats. It features ingredients like freeze-dried fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, plant milk, and brown rice, and pea protein. These smoothies don’t have any added sugar or preservatives, and they’re non-GMO. Plus, they're also dairy and soy-free, but they’re not technically gluten-free since they’re made in a facility that processes wheat. Realm’s smoothies are also shelf-stable.

You can buy Realm’s smoothies in a 18-serving pack for about $4 per smoothie or get a pack of five individually packaged smoothies for roughly $5 each. If you subscribe, you’ll save an additional 10% and get free shipping, and you can pause or cancel anytime. The main drawback to Realm is that there are only five flavors available: Bold Cacao, Berry Banana, Tropical Greens, Apple Spice, and Maqui Superfruit.

Best Flavors: Revive Superfoods

Revive Superfoods

Revive Superfoods

Why We Chose It: Revive smoothies come in 22 delicious, innovative flavors, and the company also offers a wide range of healthy bowls and meals.

What We Like:

  • A variety of options
  • Great taste

What We Don’t Like:

  • Subpar customer service

Pretty much every flavor from Revive is mind-blowing: Pumpkin & Chill, Morning Mocha, Hint of Mint, Berry Blu, Pinalada, and the list goes on. Each smoothie comes as a ready-to-blend selection of frozen fruits and vegetables in a smoothie cup, similar to Daily Harvest. The company also has gluten-free oat bowls, lunch bowls, smoothie bowls, and falafel pops.

Pricing is roughly $7 per cup no matter how many you order, and shipping is free. You can choose to get 9, 12, or 24 cups per week or get monthly deliveries of 12 or 24 cups. Revive is offering new customers 20% off their first order.

Revive checked all the boxes, but unfortunately, the customer service experience left a lot to be desired. It took over a week for the company to reply to emails.

Final Verdict

There are several key differences between the smoothie delivery services we selected. Some are shelf-stable, while others take up a lot of space in the freezer. While certain options have varying amounts of protein, others consist of just fruits and vegetables. And some have a greater variety of flavors and meal offerings than others. When deciding on the best smoothie delivery service, consider your needs and budget. You might want to try a few different services until you find the flavors you like best. If you need a place to start, check out Live Pure Superfood Smoothie Cubes. Its smoothies stood out because of the incredible flavors, quality ingredients, affordable pricing, and great customer service.

Are Smoothies Healthy?

Nutrition depends on the ingredients used. Some smoothies have added sugars that can make them unhealthy, but if your smoothies don’t have additives and are packed with fruits, vegetables, and protein, they can make for a healthy meal replacement.

How Much Do Smoothie Delivery Services Cost?

Most smoothie delivery services cost around $5 to $7 per smoothie. The cheapest smoothie delivery service we found was Kencko, which charges as little as $2.49 per smoothie, while the priciest smoothies we found came out to $13 a pop.

Can Smoothies Help with Weight Loss?

Replacing a meal with a smoothie can help you lose weight if it has the right ingredients. For example, research shows that non-starchy fruits and green leafy veggies have been associated with a greater likelihood of weight loss. That’s especially true if your smoothie is replacing a less-healthy food, such as white toast or potatoes. However, keep in mind that smoothies aren’t a total solution. You’ll also need to maintain a healthy diet overall and get plenty of exercise.

How We Chose the Best Smoothie Delivery Services

We evaluated more than a dozen smoothie delivery services based on price, variety of flavors, ease of storage, sustainability, quality of ingredients, taste, and customer service. We also used our own personal experience with smoothie delivery services to determine which made the cut.
