Luxury skincare is a bit of a gamble. You have to put your faith in the marketing spiel or the salesperson (probably on commission), and then hope that the £250+ pot of cream or bottle of serum will make your lines/pigmentation/dark circles (delete as applicable) disappear.
The thing is, with more and more advancements at the affordable end of the spectrum (*cough* The Ordinary), and with brilliant pharmacy brands like La Roche-Posay and Vichy, it can be tricky to know which luxury products are worth investing in. While there can be no surefire guarantees, there are some hero products from luxury brands that you can feel confident parting with your hard-earned cash for.
So let us help you out. We've rounded up seven luxe beauty products from various high-end brands that are loved by beauty editors and customers alike. Keep scrolling to see them—credit cards at the ready…
La Mer has packed its famous Miracle Broth into this oil alongside emollients and fatty acids that plump and hydrate the skin. If you suffer from dryness and want something luxurious to slather on, then this is for you. Makeup artist Patrick Ta, who was a fan of the brand before becoming a global makeup artist ambassador, told us last year, "If your skin looks glowy, people will think your whole look is more real and fresh. I use the oil on all my clients as a moisturiser; [it helps the] makeup glide on easier, and [it] doesn't look cakey."
This cult French lotion is packed with AHAs and BHAs to slough away dead skin cells to reveal brighter, clearer skin. Alongside the original (formulated for normal/oily skin types) there are also three other versions: P50V, which is vitamin-enriched for more mature skin types; P50W, the milder version for sensitive skin; and P50 PIGM 400, the newest one, which is less acidic and specially targeted to lighten hyperpigmentation. The only downside? It smells like vinegar.

A serious celeb favourite Kate Bosworth told Teen Vogue, "They're incredible—the best quick fix for beautifying skin, especially if you're tired! I normally leave it on for 20 minutes, and I try to refrigerate them because the cold reduces inflammation." The mask contains the brand's key ingredient, Pitera, a clear liquid extracted from the sake fermentation process. Why? The wrinkled faces and baby-soft hands of sake brewers got SKII scientists investigating this phenomenon until they discovered the secret and bottled it.
A lactic-acid and liquorice-infused serum, this targets uneven texture and tone. One reviewer on CultBeauty wrote, "Absolutely the best product I have ever tried. I love this product. It has helped even out the texture and colour of my skin, and I will never be without it. I am on bottle number three."
Byrdie U.S. editor Hallie Gould is hooked on this lotion. You apply it after cleansing but before your serum or moisturiser, it prepares the skin so it absorbs more of whatever you apply after. Gould writes, "After cleansing, I applied the pre-serum treatment with my fingers (no cotton pad needed!) and immediately felt my skin shape up. It's cooling, conditions and smooths on like something out of a dream. … My skin feels baby soft, and my pores are non-existent. I vow to keep foundation off my face for as long as my professional life allows because, man, this is great."
I've seen firsthand the skin tightening, line-softening power of this supercharged pot of eye cream. Not only does this contain seriously hydrating ingredients, but it boasts glucosamine HCL that bolsters skin elasticity and peptides to improve communication between your skin cells so they work more efficiently (read: younger).
A true cult classic, this rose-scented product is perfect if you want to dip your toe into the Sisley brand. This mask works in just 10 minutes to soften, plump and hydrate the skin eliminating any signs of fatigue. Essentially, if you look knackered more often than not, then you need this.
