Oval Face? Don't Go Too Long With Your Hair
It's a common shape amongst models, so it should be self-evident by now that oval (aka long) faces look great, particularly with the right haircut. You want something to flatter the shape and bring out your best features.
You have a lot of options with an oval face. Shoulder length with face-framing waves, curls, and anything with highlights all work. You can also go short or long, opt for a bob, and keep the style as sleek or as messy as you like.
Shoulder-Length Hair Is Flattering
The most flattering haircut on an oval face shape is shoulder-length. You can even add some bangs and waves, while keeping everything between your chin and shoulders, if you want to make your face look rounder. It's both a trendy and timeless look that offers you many styling options from day to day.
Long and Curly
You don't have to listen to the "no long hair" suggestion that's typically imposed on people with oval faces if you have waves or curls. A lot of body adds width to the sides of the face. If you have naturally curly hair, let it go natural or tame the curl with a curling iron and some light products.
For straighter hair, you will need to add some curl. Spritz your hair with setting spray and wind sections around the barrel of a medium-sized curling iron.
The Gorgeous Lob
When it comes to haircuts, chin-length bobs (or lobs), are ideal for long faces. They create the illusion of width, and they're always on trend.
The bob should end just below the jaw to show off your bone structure. The best bobs are also shorter in the back and angle down to the front.
Go With a Side Part
This is an incredibly flattering hairstyle on an oval face. It's a shorter bob and the curls add width to the sides of the face.
Your part matters as well. You will notice that a lot of these styles have a side part, which naturally makes your face appear wider. The center part will make your face appear even longer than it is. That's because it lines up with your nose and straight down to your chin, creating a very long line.
A Bob for Thick, Straight Hair
This is a great cut for any face shape, but it's great on a long face, and ideal if you have thick, straight hair. The bob is cut in at a great angle on the face so it shows off the slender bone structure. The long, side-swept bangs cover a large forehead, and the pieceyness of the hair makes it fun.
