When I got my Mason Pearson brush, it felt like an accomplishment—something I had dreamed about (and saved for), as if owning the legendary brush was some sort of beauty right of passage. And maybe it was, but in all honesty, it’s not my favorite brush. My favorite brush isn’t one I had to save up for. And as it turns out, the pros agree: Good hairbrushes don’t have to come with a hefty price tag. I asked a handful of the industry’s best to name their favorite hairbrush for under $50, and the responses flowed like Blake Lively’s cascading waves.

A clear winner rose to the top, securing half of all the round brush recommendations, and the rest of the list is pretty impressive, too.

Ibiza Hair Extended Cork Round Brush (Large) $50

The Pick: Ibiza Hair Extended Cork Round Brush (Large) ($50)

The Stylist: Castillo, celebrity hairstylist

Why It’s a Favorite: My favorite brand of hairbrushes and combs is typically YS Park. Unfortunately, they can be a bit pricey, running from $100-$200, easily. My alternative favorite hairbrushes are definitely the Ibiza Collection extended cork round brushes. These amazing brushes cost between $48-$50 and come in many options for different types and sizes. My favorite part about these brushes is the gentle yet very effective bristles. And the amount of volume I can get out of these round brushes is phenomenal, not to mention the extended cork handle.

The extended cork handle is perfect for my size hands, and it gives me a great grip for the perfect amount of tension needed to get that perfect blowout. My favorite is the Ibiza Collection Extended Cork Round Brush (Large) ($50).

It’s a ceramic ionic [brush] that heats up relatively fast, while the carbon bristles, infused with tourmaline, give the hair great shine! This brush is best for soft waves and blowouts.

The Stylist: Sofia Smith, stylist at Salon Thalia

Why It’s a Favorite: Olivia Garden Ceramic Vent Brush is a great vegan option. It’s lightweight for easy self-blow-drying, and it also massages the scalp. It incorporates ion technology to restore hair's balance, add luster and shine, and smooth hair. It also maximizes heat distribution for faster styling, which we always need. There is also a great retractable pick on the end that can be taken out and used to separate hair!

Marilyn Double S Pro Round Brush $24

The Pick: Marilyn Double S Pro Round Brush ($24)

The Stylist: Bryona Smith, stylist at Salon Thalia

Why It’s a Favorite: Marilyn Round Brush is a 100% natural boar bristle brush, which is great for creating beautiful, sexy volume and body. The boar bristles also help to shine and smooth hair, which is great for people with thick and coarse hair.

iTech Magnetic Boar & Nylon Hairbrush $22
Shop

The Pick: iTech Magnetic Boar & Nylon Hairbrush ($22)

The Stylist: Kendra Richards, celebrity hairstylist

Why It’s a Favorite: An under-$50 brush that I use regularly is a 3 1/4-inch round brush by iTech. This size is great for volume because it lifts without adding curl. I also use it for straightening longer hair. Again, the larger-size barrel keeps the hair from curling, but you can pull tight enough to straighten the hair. It's got a ceramic barrel that maintains and distributes heat to speed up drying time. Their smaller barrel brushes are good for drying and adding curl to the hair. They’re generally under $20 also.
