Reasonable price, convenient location, and a talented stylist are just a few of the things we look for in a hair salon. And while we have yet to find a salon that meets all our requirements (we’re pretty picky), the best hair salons in San Francisco come pretty close. So just where should you get your hair done in the Bay Area? Thanks to some insight from local bloggers, we've compiled the most exceptional hair salons from Nob Hill to the Financial District.
Looking for an expert in textured hair? We'd suggest Cinta Salon. Want a new 'do to up your cool factor? One of Spoke & Weal's off-duty cuts will likely do the trick. Or perhaps babylights are more your style? If that happens to be the case, Barrow Salon will make your baby-blonde dreams come true. For the hair salons Bay Area bloggers visit when they need a cut, color, or both, keep on reading.
"With two locations in San Francisco, this salon has a cult following," says Kate Ogata from The Fancy Pants Report. Known for its balayage treatments and I-woke-up-like-this hair, Population Salon is a go-to destination for San Francisco's stylish set, according to Ogata. Erin Hiemstra of Apartment 34 agrees, exclaiming she can't recommend Population enough, as it's the only place she'll go for both her cut and color.

Lived-in balayage color and effortless French-girl cuts are just a couple of the reasons Melissa Middleton Lanman of JNSQ says Barrow Salon is "where all the cool girls go" in San Francisco. And while Lanman notes the décor and complimentary beverages are charming, it's the impeccable talent of stylists Bekie Raynard and Jamie Chow that keep her coming back to the salon. She says, "I want a very specific cut and color (blondaholic), and my ladies at Barrow get it right."

Spoke & Weal
After just one cut, Ogata was smitten with Spoke & Weal Salon. She says, "My hair is stubbornly pin-straight, and I've never had a stylist give me so much texture. I have my hair cut by master stylist Christy Dylo—she's the absolute best." But cuts aren't all they do at Spoke & Weal; Ogata says they give great styling tips and recommendations based on your hair type as well.
