The 6 Hair Accessory Trends Fashion Girls Are Wearing This Summer

Updated 07/08/19

 @ninasandbech

This summer, when it comes to hair accessories, more is more—at least that's the memo the fashion girls have sent. Our favorite style influencers are embracing hair accessories with gusto this season. From pearl slides to headscarves, when it comes to adorning your hair, anything goes. Need some inspiration? These are the six biggest hair accessory trends we've spied across the 'gram. Try your favorite or mix it up—there are no rules.

PEARL PALS

The gorgeous Micaela Verrelien and Felicity Hayward are on the same page when it comes to pearl slides. Make them oversize and use them to add an accent to a down 'do.

I'M WITH THE (HEAD)BAND

headband
 @esteelalonde

The 2019 headband is oversize and kind of padded. It's like upholstery for your hair, if that makes sense. Baby pink is a clear front runner, but black and nude are also making their rounds (you can wear any color you like, though. See the gorgeous Elnaz, Tanaz and Gonaz below for inspo). Keep it simple like Estée Lalonde or opt for an embellished headband à la Ellie of Slip Into Style.

YOU'RE HAVING A SCARF

headscarf
@calliethorpe

Headscarves are so versatile, aren't they? You can tie them whimsically around your head, like Callie Thorpe, or style them traditionally, like Courtney of Always Judging, for a retro-cool take.

Don't have a scrunchie at hand? Make like Stephanie of honeynsilk and wrap your headscarf around your ponytail. Clever.

SCRUNCH IT UP!

scrunchie
 @emmahoareau

Scrunchies are just not going anywhere. It's partly the cool '90s aesthetic, but it's also that they're just so damn handy. Whether you use yours to fashion a ponytail like Emma Hoareau or a bun like Vic Styles, get one in your summer wardrobe, stat!

CLIP CRAZY

 @ninasandbech

If you're a "more is more" kinda girl, then you need to buy all the hair clips you can fit into your hands and then pop into your hair. Go completely and wonderfully OTT like Nina Sandbech, or keep it neat like Hannah Gale.

We're also digging the girliness of adorning either side of a centre part with slides, like Zara Martin in Tortware (London's hottest new accessory brand, FYI).

WRAP IT WITH RIBBON

Ribbons are a super easy way to add a little whimsy to a ponytail, topknot or low-slung bun. Brittany Bathgate nails the vibe beautifully.

Make like Zoja Saveljeva and next time you go shopping for perfume, makeup or those Chanel Dad sandals, keep the ribbon they wrap your purchase with to adorn your hair.
