This $24 Eye Gel Is Blowing Up on Amazon, and You've Never Heard of It

We pride ourselves on being walking beauty encyclopedias. Chances are, if a friend tells us about the miracle serum they just discovered, we've already tried it and can tell them the science behind why it works so well. But every once in a while, we'll stumble across a product that's gained a ton of traction on an unassuming platform, like the comments section of Reddit or Amazon, and we'll wonder how we've carried on for so long without ever knowing its existence.

This happened to me recently with an eye gel by the brand Baebody. To be honest, had it passed by my desk without any context, I'd probably toss it to the side—"Baebody" sounds like an MTV makeover show. But skimming through over 10,000 comments on Amazon, it's clear it isn't your typical under-eye treatment: Says one reviewer, "Literally overnight, I could tell a difference in my eye area. The puffiness was gone, and the darkness had begun to dissipate. In just a few uses, I have noticed my overall complexion looking more awake and refreshed than before. I have sensitive skin and eyes, and this product did not irritate either of them."

Peppered within a sea of customer praise are incredible before and after pictures of decreased puffiness, and overall firmer, brighter under-eyes. While bags aren't a big problem for me just yet (my under eyes are actually quite hallow), the skin is very thin and could use some help in the brightening department, so I figured I had to give it a try. I was immediately impressed with the texture—a cool gel that's much lighter than a regular cream (of which tends to give me milia) and soaks into the skin nicely, albeit a bit tacky. I also like the the way it dispenses. The top is a concave round cap with a small hole in the center that you press down to receive a dollop of product. This makes for a much more hygienic mode of application, and I'm assuming this helps preserve the ingredients (cucumber, jojoba oil, licorice, aloe, and hyaluronic acid, to name a few).

It's got a strong cucumber smell that I'm not super fond of, but it dissipates quickly. I definitely noticed that the area was brighter and more hydrated the next morning, and although it wasn't noticeable with bare skin, once I put my foundation on, there was a palpable difference in tightness. Turns out the rave reviews are completely accurate.
