This sleek gadget is what would happen if an aromatherapy diffuser and your smart device had a minimalist, tech-savvy baby.

Unlike traditional diffusers, which require you to drop oils into them, Aera features fragrance “pods” that you simply pop into the device. You can then control how strong the scent is (handy if you are using the diffuser in a large room versus a smaller space), and when and for how long the scent is dispersed using the brand’s app. You can also switch out the pods whenever you feel like it—no need to wait for one scent to disperse before opting for another.

The aromatherapy line is made in partnership with British brand Aromatherapy Associates and consists of 100 percent essential oil blends. Each pod offers between 500 and 800 hours of play, although that will vary slightly depending on the level of strength you select for the diffuser.

There are two categories to choose from: traditional room fragrances and aromatherapy. The room fragrances are all created by Aera’s perfumers and are predominantly made up of essential oils, however, they may feature some synthetic ingredients to replace those notes or aromas that may cause allergic reaction or irritation in sensitive individuals.

With the subscription service, you can mix and match which pods you want and how often you want them, choosing between every two, three, or four months. You can swap out which pods you receive in your subscription, add more to your order, remove ones you don’t want anymore, and pause or skip deliveries without any penalty.

The subscription service will also give you an automatic 10% discount off of the price of each pod (which will typically run you about $55 or $60 per piece, depending on the fragrance).

With the subscription option, you can mix and match your oils and you’ll save about 15% on your order. You have to commit to two orders to get the deal, however. After that, you can cancel at any time.

Each order can be changed to fit your needs for the month, switching out the oils that are included, adding or subtracting oils, and adjusting the delivery frequency depending on when you need it. Shipping is free for orders over about $45, and you can return any oils you don’t love for a store credit.
