Body lotion sticks are a complete revelation to me. A game-changer. I was wandering around Douglas (Amsterdam's equivalent of Sephora) a couple of weeks ago and came across a body lotion stick in Miranda Kerr's Kora Organics line-up. I'd never seen one before so I snapped it up. I'd seen sticks of cleanser, blush, foundation and even perfume, but never a body lotion stick.
A few months back, I was watching comedian James Acaster's stand-up show on Netflix and, to paraphrase the skit, he had asked the audience whether they'd ever wondered what it would be like if their whole body was made of lip skin? (No, me neither). He noted that you'd need a massive Chapstick to moisturise your body if it was. Well, they exist! And last time I checked, my whole body was not lip skin.
The thing is, I'm a bit lazy when it comes to moisturizing anywhere further south than my décolletage. I live in Europe, not some tropical island, so I spend a good deal of the year covered up and my skin isn't dry, so I never really feel the need to moisturize. But, as I age, I do want my face skin to match my body skin and keeping both optimally nourished is key. I'm trying to take up moisturizing daily with my new body lotion stick because it is so quick and easy to use. Simply scribble over your limbs and torso, massage a little and you can swiftly move on with your day. Sounds good, right?
