The Only Beauty Podcasts That Are Actually Worth Listening To

I admit it—I'm a podcast addict. I gorge on hours of The Guilty Feminist, get lost in Women of the Hour black holes and race through murder mystery after murder mystery (think Serial and Dirty John). In fact, my entire week is planned around new podcast drops: Mondays are for ghost stories via Lore, The High Low arrives on Wednesdays, and I listen to Jules and Sarah: The Podcast on my commute to work every single Friday.

But where I really clock up the hours is listening to beauty podcasts. There are so many good ones out there ready to teach you the what's what and who's who in beauty, as well as introduce you to products, treatments, and trends you didn't know you were going to love. If being a podcast fanatic has taught me anything, however, it's that there are two types: the good podcasts and the crap podcasts. And I feel it's my duty as an audio advocate to help you navigate this world and prevent you from wasting an hour on lackluster recordings.

So with that in mind, may I present four beauty podcasts that are actually worth listening to. (Believe me, I've dedicated hours to these.)

Glowing Up With Esther and Caroline

Glowing Up

Glowing Up is so hilarious that it sends me into actual laughing fits in transit—just ask my perpetually embarrassed boyfriend if you don't believe me. It's hosted by comedians Esther Povitsky and Caroline Goldfarb, two of the funniest people I've ever come across. They talk about navigating the path towards a "glowier" life: From skincare to makeup, health to fitness but everything is inspected through a no-bs lens.

Favorite Episode: "Julie Schott's Makeup Bag," a look at the beauty products this Elle.com editor loves.

Fat Mascara

Considering the hosts are two esteemed U.S. beauty journalists (Harper's Bazaar's Jessica Matlin and Jennifer Goldstein, who works for Marie Claire), you can trust Fat Mascara to deliver on the "what's trending in beauty this week?" front. The two experts will weigh in on the latest Instagram fads, new products drops and intriguing trends doing the rounds on the beauty circuit each and every week.

Favorite Episode: "Pat, Don't Rub" with beauty icon and Goop Beauty Director Jean Godfrey-June.

The Beauty Brains

If you count yourself a bit of a beauty skeptic, welcome home: This podcast raises a curious eyebrow at all the buzz of the beauty industry and provides a cosmetic scientist's POV on just about everything. Want to know how to tell if a product will cause acne? Concerned about aluminum in your deodorant? Intrigued to find out if a bath product really can detox the skin? The Beauty Brains has the 411.

Favorite Episode: "Is Fabric Softener a Good Hair Conditioner?" (We won't ruin the answer for you.)

The Emma Guns Show

This podcast is great for anyone looking to pursue a career in the beauty industry, or just simply want some advice on how to make it in whatever you do. Beauty journalist Emma Gunavardhana invites all sorts of guests (think journalist Sali Hughes, Beauty Mart founders Millie Kendall and Anna-Marie Solowij, nutritionist Eve Kalinik, etc.) to talk through the lessons that have molded their careers. It's a bit like This Is Your Life, only fancier.

Favorite Episode: "Paula Begoun: Choice, Truth and Hormones," in which Paula's Choice founder talks through her fears about misinformation in the beauty sphere.
