The Most Jaw-Dropping Beauty Looks at the 2018 American Music Awards

Updated 10/10/18

Music has had an epic year, with artists using their voices and musical talent to speak out about politics, love, heartbreak, and the current happenings in our world as it presently stands. Now, the fans have a chance to give something back to their favorite artists, as the American Music Awards are the world's largest fan vote. So yes, it's up to us this time around, and we can't wait to see what our favorites like Chloe x Halle, SZA, Rihanna, Cardi B, and Ariana Grande have in store for us, in more ways than one.

See, we're interested in the music, of course, but we've also got our eyes peeled for the best beauty looks too. We're talking voluminous curls, slicked ponytails, neon eye shadow, and classic cat eyes—the works. We can't wait to watch each artist strut down the red carpet, and we're looking forward to hearing from their glam squads as well. Below, find the best looks from the AMAs red carpet.

Tracee Ellis Ross

Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the evening and debuted a ton of looks, the first being this neutral, frosty confection with makeup by Pat McGrath Labs. We're in love with the way her petal-pink lip, metallic shadow, and lots of lashes complement her wet-look slick-back. Luckily, we know exactly the products she's wearing: Pat McGrath Labs Perma Precision Liquid Eyeliner ($28), Skin Fetish Highlighter and Balm Duo in Nude ($48), and Mattetrance Lipstick in Christy ($38).

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift, save for performing on tour, has been out of the public eye for much of the last few years. So when she showed up in metallic Balmain and her classic cat eye, we admit we did a double take. She offered up fresh skin, a dusty-rose lip, a bit of glowy highlighter along the inner corners of her eyes, and, of course, a lot of liner.

Vanessa Hudgens

Vanessa Hudgens has been working her flippy, shiny, collarbone-grazing bob for a little while now, and we're still just as in love as ever. It's classic, simple, and fresh all at the same time, and her longtime hairstylist Chad Wood is responsible for every strand (and Redken Shine Flash 02 Shine Spray ($20). As for her makeup, celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta created a pink palette with Dose of Colors DesixKaty Palette in Friendcation ($55) and Shiseido Aura Dew in Solar ($25).

Erika Jayne

Our girl Erika Jayne went all out with silk cord wrapped around her blonde, braided updo. She always brings it big time, and tonight is no different.

Dua Lipa Hair

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa looks awe-inspiring with her signature textured lob. Only this time, it's a deep, perfect-for-fall brunette shade rather than the platinum we saw in her music video. You can't ever go wrong with a flat-iron wave and deep side part.

Tyra Banks hair

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks showed up on the red carpet with her long, large barrel-curl hair cascading from a black hat. She's ageless, as usual, and her skin is absolutely glowing.

Ella Mai

Cool-girl Ella Mai is a vision with huge, swept-back, voluminous curls. The rest of her look is quite soft (which seems to be a trend of the night), as she offers up nude lipstick and natural, matte shadow on her eyes.

Ashlee Simpson makeup

Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson showed off a killer exaggerated cat eye in navy blue to match her sequin dress and complement her bright eyes. The rest of her look, clean skin and a nude lip, is glowy and flawless.

Amber Heard hair

Amber Heard

Amber Heard worked with celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel ahead of the red carpet. He weaved a golden thread through her twisted, wet-look 'do. (Peep yet another nude lipstick, FYI.)

Halsey makeup

Halsey

Halsey showed off pink frosted makeup to match her freshly dyed hair. Sparkles, dew, and well-placed glow was the theme, and we're behind it 100%.

Chloe x Halle makeup

Chloe x Halle

Chloe x Halle, fresh of the On the Run tour with Jay-Z and Beyoncé (!!!), lit up the red carpet with their lit-from-within glows, fresh skin, nude lips, and perfectly manicured brows. We're breathless.

Cardi B makeup

Cardi B

The queen herself graced the red carpet in the only red lip so far tonight (it's L'Oréal's Colour Riche Matte Lipstick in Matte-ly In Love, $10, FYI). She paired it with fuchsia ombré shadow, a bit of shimmer, and otherworldly lashes. Oh, and of course, the epic headpiece.

Camila Cabello

Another natural, fresh-faced beauty, Camila Cabello paired her flawless skin and pinky-nude lipstick with barely there, second-day waves.

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood kept things simple as well, showing off her signature blonde with looser waves than her usual look. Instead, she replaced the barrel curls with a bouncy, side-parted blowout and, you guessed it, nude lipstick.

Ciara hair

Ciara

Ciara walked the carpet with her adorable son and the most incredible curls we've seen yet. Long, cascading, and honey-highlighted, her side-parted coils are what dreams are made of. We can't wait to watch them during her performance, wind-blown and epic.

Jennifer Lopez makeup

Jennifer Lopez

I don't think there's a red carpet in existence on which Jennifer Lopez didn't look stunning. She is everything, and tonight is no different. She wore a smudgy smoked-out eye, a face-framing updo, and glossy nude lipstick alongside her twisted updo by celebrity hairstylist Chad Wood. He used Ghd's Platinum+ Styler ($249) and Redken's Triple Dry 15 Dry Texture Finishing Spray ($22).

Rita Ora hair

Rita Ora

Rita Ora went '60s-inspired with thick black liner, Twiggy-esque lashes, and a pulled-back and adorably flippy ponytail. She always serves up something different, and this is certainly one of our favorites.

Heidi Klum hair

Heidi Klum

Heidi Klum, as always, looked gorgeous. She also chose to go slicked-back with her hair and nude for her lips, with a delicate smoky eye and champagne highlighter.

Leighton Meester makeup

Leighton Meester

Leighton Meester practically floated down the AMAs red carpet, and we realized how much we'd missed her at things like these. She wore the second red lip of the night (the first being Cardi B, of course). Only Meester's was slightly darker and vampier. To complement her classic-looking lip, she had a few romantic, face-framing shades tousled from her updo.

Busy Philipps makeup

Busy Philipps

Busy Philipps, always one of our favorites, wore a grayish-blue shimmering shadow (we're in love) and a glossy nude lip to offset her glowing skin and tight, half-up curls.

Amandla Stenberg makeup

Amandla Stenberg

Amandla Stenberg looked incredible in a tuxedo jacket and Levis, with her hair braided into a bob with pops of purple and auburn. She paired the look with a coral-nude lip and simple eyeliner.

Constance Wu hair

Constance Wu

Constance Wu offered up perhaps the most flirty 'do, with a half-up, high pony with lots of texture.
