The 10 Beauty Compliments Every Girl Loves

Updated 04/17/19

We can’t always be on our A-game. But on those days when it just comes together—maybe we nailed nailing the perfect cat eye or woke up to a particularly good hair day—getting beauty compliments out of the blue are basically the best thing ever.

Just for funsies, we compiled a list of our favorite beauty compliments to receive—especially when coming from a stranger on the street (assuming not as a creepy pickup line).

Click through to see some of our favorite things to hear, and say! Since giving is better than receiving, or something like that.

"Your hair color is amazing."

The only thing better than being asked where you get your hair colored (flattery at its finest) is the assumption that it’s natural.

“Your lips are so full. They look like Scarlett Johansson’s.”

Having luscious lips comparable to ScarJo’s is a beauty holy grail.

“You have the prettiest eyes.”

Maybe it’s the eye-opening liner tricks you’ve picked up along the way, maybe you’re a master highlighter, or maybe you were just #blessed with bright eyes, but they don’t call them the windows to our souls for nothing.

"You have the best cheekbones.”

Oh these old things? I’ve just been practicing my contouring

“You have the longest eyelashes.”

Thanks, I was born that way. Just kidding they’re extensions/falsies/mascara, but yay!

“You have the prettiest skin. How do you get it to glow like that?”

I woke up like this! Obviously.

“Your skin is so soft and smooth.”

Ideally this one is coming from someone you know...

CP/Star Max

"I wish I had your hair.”

It’s thick, voluminous, and voluptuous – it’s Sofia Vergara and Blake Lively hair.

“You look amazing - did you just get back from vacation?”

Well-rested, radiant, fresh-faced, tan…it’s a pretty encompassing beauty compliment to be asked if you were on vacation, especially if, in fact, you were not.

“How do you do your makeup like that?”

It’s always a nice and validating feeling to be told your makeup looks pro. Sure, it’s great when your bare, no-makeup mug warrants a compliment, but when you put in effort to beautify your face and someone is actually jealous of your skills? Keep doing whatever it is that you’re doing, girl.
