This past October felt like a case of the Sunday Scaries every day for an entire month. Talk about spooky season: Not only was there a blue moon on Halloween, Mercury was in retrograde, and the looming election had everyone feeling a bit… haunted. If that wasn't enough, COVID-19 cases have been rising in the United States, and with the cold weather upon us, a prolonged retreat indoors is inevitable. To ward off the bad energy, we've found solace in our beauty and wellness practices, taking care to mask, hydrate, flow, and meditate with intention, because even the smallest acts of kindness to ourselves can dissipate a hovering gray cloud, even if just for a moment.
Below, we're sharing the products we turned to last month for a little reprieve.

Aveeno Restorative Skin Therapy Sulfate-Free Body Wash
"Like most people, my skin tends to dry out in the winter. I'm admittedly too lazy to apply body lotion after every single shower, so I always opt for a creamier formula come fall (as opposed to the gel formulas I prefer in the summer). This new launch from Aveeno is my current favorite—it froths like a gel-textured body wash, but definitely feels more like a creamy moisturizer. And for $13, you get a massive pump."
Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Meltaway Cleanser
"After two weeks of using this cleanser, I'm convinced I can never live without it. I can't stand the feeling of cleansing oils (or particularly oily cleansing balms) on my face, but they're the only products that have ever been able to fully dissolve my makeup—until now. Absolutely nothing is leftover after using this cleanser, which has the lightweight consistency of a gel-cream. I'm even brave enough to use my pricy white face towels after using this product—absolutely zero product comes off of my face. This is a huge winner in my book, just don't try to say the product name three times fast. "
Hero Cosmetics Sidekick 2.0
"I recently went off of birth control, and it shows—tiny little whiteheads have cropped up all over my chin. I already love the Hero Cosmetics pimple patches for treating whiteheads, so this new organizer is what type-A dreams are made of. I keep my dark spot patches on one level and my pimple patches on the other; no more rogue sleeves of patches lost under my sink."

Ouai Hand Crème
"I know hand cream isn't exactly the sexiest pick, but it is the best damn hand cream I've ever used. Now that the weather is getting colder, my excessive hand washing yields dry, flaky skin all over again. Ouai's thick, creamy formula is packed with coconut and avocado oils, as well as murumuru and shea butters, and offers the most delightful scent (Ouai's Rue St. Honoré, which mixes gardenia, white musk, and violet). I use it constantly."
Naturium Niacinamide Cleansing Gelée 3%
"I've become prone to milia—a buildup of keratin (a protein found in the skin) which hardens and becomes trapped—so I've had to switch out a few of my usual skincare products. Rather than balms and oils, I've started to test out various gel and foaming cleansers to better prevent milia. This one is so lovely. It's an essence-like gel cleanser that gently removes makeup, oils, and debris with the softed, most luxurious foam. It's formulated with niacinamide, an ingredient which helps restore cellular energy, repair damaged DNA, and reduce the immunosuppressive effects of sun-induced UV rays. It's anti-inflammatory and brightening as well. It rules."

Sweet Street Cosmetics Thick and Thin Lipstick and Lip Liner Duo in Angel BB
"I'm obsessed with '90s beauty looks and this has become my new favorite product for getting a heavy liner lip. Unlike most lip kits that come as two separate products, this chubby stick is compact with a matte lipstick on one end and a liner in a complementary shade on the other. Angel BB is my favorite color of the three."
Olive & June Pedi System
"Since the pandemic, I no longer go to the salon to get my toes done. So when I was introduced to Olive & June's new Pedi System that includes a foot pedestal for a precise paint job, I was ecstatic. It makes me pedi time at-home feel fancy and not at all annoying."
Lindsey Metrus, senior editor
"If I could only wear one lingerie brand for the rest of eternity, it would be Boody. The pieces are made of sustainably sourced viscose made from bamboo and feel like cashmere. Emily Ratajkowski has been spotted wearing the bras underneath open blazers and shirts, proving that they're equally as fashionable as they are comfortable. They're the perfect WFH staple."
Odele Air Dry Styler
"I was recently introduced to Odele, an affordable, chic, clean haircare brand (each item is just $12 at Target) and it's all I've been using for the past month. My favorite has been this air dry gel that smooths and seals the hair cuticle so that my hair won't pouf out when I can't be bothered to reach for the blowdryer. It feels like a thick serum and doesn't leave my hair crunchy or sticky in the slightest. Sometimes I'll even use it when I do blow-dry my hair for added heat protection and shine. I can't imagine being without it."
Arrae Bloat Supplments
"I'm not one to shy away from talking about bloating and will share successful remedies with anyone who's willing to listen. I tend to bloat from virtually everything: alcohol, dairy, gluten, too much fiber—there's very little that doesn't cause me to puff out, so I often turn to supplements to help break down what my stomach can't.
"These Arrae supplements have been a great solve for days when I'm really feeling it. They're packed with bromelain to expedite food breakdown, peppermint and lemon balm for gas reduction and dandelion (a natural diuretic). They're great to keep in your purse as an emergency remedy when you're on the move."

Bodyography Pro Perfect Foundation Stick in Golden
"This Bodyography stick is my current favorite medium-to-full coverage foundation. It’s easy, quick, and builds like a dream. When I first swatched it on my face, I was delighted by how seamlessly it covered my hyperpigmentation and dark circles. It is a fast and breezy way to flawless coverage that actually makes me feel low maintenance. I highly recommend it for anyone who likes to blend with their fingers and doesn’t like to spend too much time in front of the mirror."
Confidence Co Digestive Enzyme Complex
"Although I’m lactose intolerant, I still can’t resist the occasional dairy product. While I typically take a Lactaid supplement before indulging, I often forget and am left with an upset stomach. That’s where this digestive enzyme comes in the clutch. I can take it after I eat something hard to digest and I only need one to feel the difference. They come in discreet packaging that easily fits into my bag, and I literally feel better within 10 minutes. This is my new go-to product for gut health."
Biologique Recherche Masque Vivant
"It’s no surprise that Masque Vivant is amazing, but I just need to add my praise to its lengthy résumé. During a virtual skin consultation with celebrity skincare expert Aida Bicaj, she suggested Masque Vivant as a remedy for so many of my skin concerns, so I knew I had to get my hands on it. I can eagerly confirm this mask’s superpowers, and even after one use, my hormonal breakouts and dark spots were less visible. Using this mask once a week has totally changed my skin for the better—it's definitely a holy grail product."
